

Justin Timberlake, Grammy and Emmy Award winner, is a huge sneakers fan. During the SuperBowl performance in 2018, he wore the limited-edition Air Jordan 3 sneakers. Which was the first release from the artist’s series of Tinker Hatfield collaborations. Growing up, he was a Michael Jordan fan even claiming that he had posters of him on his wall. But Jordan was not his only inspiration, there was another legend.
In a recent episode of Complex’s Justin Timberlake Goes Sneaker Shopping, professing his love for sneakers. He described how big of an effect Jordan 3 and Air Max had on him. During the video, Timberlake was asked about his inspiration behind wearing basketball shoes during charity games. He described himself as a “big Penny fan“.

Timberlake grew up in Memphis, which explains his love for Hardaway. “big Penny fan okay, big Penny Hardway fan. Getting the deposits were were like a big deal too. But I never I don’t think I ever was I could I could ever find the blue and black. I think I was just at that time I was mixing it up and wearing just like anything that caught my eye.”
From wearing Jordans to working with Michael Jordan
The Friends with Benefits star had photos of Michael Jordan on his walls while growing up. Since he lived in Tennessee, he recalls it was not accessible for sneakers like today. He said he would earn 10 bucks by cutting lawns and would save enough to buy his favorite Jordans.

He gave a hint about future collaboration with Michael Jordan. It will be golf shoes. “there’s some classic um there’s some classic sneaker bodies that I’m I’m pushing to get okay on the golf course spiked up and everything.”
Jordan has built his golf course. And is spending his retirement time peacefully on the course away from the court. Timberlake was seen wearing Air Jordan 11 golf shoes and is keen to create something of similar significance. Golf shoes have sentimental value for the singer. He shared the story of how he would visit the golf course with his step-dad who loved golfing, Later when he grew up he went to the golf course he used to visit, and it was going to be demolished. Timberlake bought the property and renamed it Mirimichi Golf Course. He later sold it in 2013, but still saved the golf course and his memories.
