JuJu Watkins is on her way to becoming the next big thing in women’s basketball. Her 30 points in 4-straight games vs UCLA Bruins are a testament to this. That streak ties her for the third-longest against a single opponent in Division I since 1999-00. No wonder the 19-year-old is garnering praise from NBA legends like Magic Johnson, Kevin Garnett, and more.
Magic, a proud USC supporter, couldn’t contain his excitement after Watkins’ latest masterpiece. “Juju Watkins put on a show tonight with her 30 point performance as she led her team to victory over UCLA! @USCWBB,” Johnson wrote on X on Sunday. However, the praises have not stopped flowing in even now.
More recently, Kevin Garnett took to his Instagram story and re-shared a post by Stoner Sports Network sharing an update on JuJu Watkins’s 30 points, 5 assists, and 3 blocks domination against UCLA. Garnett captioned his IG story with a series of emojis, including a salute and approval emoji.

Now, with each jaw-dropping performance, Watkins’ case for National Player of the Year (NPOY) is only getting stronger. Just ask basketball analyst Rebecca Lobo, who made it clear that Watkins’s dominance isn’t going unnoticed. “Juju Watkins has had a terrific season overall. The two stellar performances against UCLA will go a long way towards winning her national player of the year,” she posted on X earlier.
No wonder that even Detroit Pistons legend Isiah Thomas could not hold back from throwing the spotlight at the USC Trojans’ star player. He made a silent cheer for JuJu Watkins as he shared an IG post highlighting her recent performance without any caption.

However, Regie Miller was not short of words when it came to praising the 19-year-old college basketball star. He shared an image featuring Watkins and Trojans coach Cher Miller, who happens to be Reggie’s sister. “Greatness personified,” read the caption.
Considering Watkins sits at No. 4 on On3’s National Player of the Year front-runner list with 24.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game, there is no doubt that she’s worthy of every single praise from the aforementioned NBA legends.

A quick recap of JuJu Watkins’s recent domination against the UCLA
From the moment the ball went up on Saturday, it was clear—Watkins was in full control. USC never let UCLA breathe, leading from start to finish in an 80-67 statement win. If the Bruins were hoping for redemption after their last loss to the Trojans, Watkins made sure they didn’t get it.
And really, were we expecting anything less? The last time these two teams met, she erupted for 38 points to snap UCLA’s winning streak. This time, she wasted no time putting her stamp on the game, dropping 30 points—23 of them before halftime. She wasn’t just scoring, either. With five assists, three rebounds, and three blocks, she reminded everyone she’s not a one-dimensional star.

Even when she missed a couple of shots, UCLA fans tried to rattle her. Bad idea. That only fueled her fire. She shook it off, powered through contact, and knocked down tough buckets like it was nothing. You could feel it—whenever she called for the ball, something big was coming. A smooth jumper, a dagger three, even a bucket over UCLA’s 6-foot-7 Lauren Betts to close the third.
Then, just to put the game to bed, Watkins assisted on back-to-back threes in the fourth, stretching USC’s lead to 20. And as if that wasn’t enough, she swatted Gabriela Jaquez’s shot late in the game—one final exclamation point on yet another dominant performance.
