The Boston Celtics are in the Finals! Jaylen Brown is the bonafide hero of this, cemented as he wins the Eastern Conference Finals MVP honor. After Game 4 ended 105-102, and the Celtics swept the Indiana Pacers, Boston is looking unstoppable off the back of Brown’s 29-point outing tonight. The NBA community couldn’t hold back their awe for Brown’s leadership throughout this series. Especially when there has been chatter about his abilities causing the full force of the Celtics nation raining down on his critic.

The beef hasn’t died down but Brown is proving those in his corner right. What will shut up haters would be the next trophy and possibly another MVP title. Paul Pierce was one of the few to remind him to stay laser-focused on the next goal. The congratulations were implied as he wrote, “Congrats but job not finished let’s gooooooo.

The last time the Celtics won a championship, it was The Truth who led them there in 2008. He was even the Finals MVP, the next two honors he’d perhaps like Brown to bring back to Boston.

Jaylen Brown received five out of nine votes for the ECF MVP. His teammate, Jayson Tatum received the other four. While the Brown-Tatum duo have been the second coming of Garnett-Pierce, Brown’s experience showed through his leadership. We’d see through this series, especially the overtime Game 3 he whooped Tatum to pull through. Not in the least bit complacent, he admired the Pacers’ speed and demanded more from his team to keep up with them.

Exactly why Kendrick Perkins said winning the ECF finals and MVP aren’t going to satisfy Brown. His expectations and efforts are always sky-high. “Ask Jaylen Brown which means more. All-NBA or ECF MVP?! Bet that Trophy that’s named after Larry Legend means a lot more. Carry the hell on…” Perk wrote.

But his support for Brown was not immediately appreciated by Boston fans. Brown is in a spat with Stephen A. Smith and Perkins’ involvement in it didn’t sit well with fans.

Jaylen Brown’s critics are silent

It was a wild day when Kendrick Perkins and Stephen A. Smith debated Jaylen Brown’s marketability on air. Perkins previously angered Boston for his hot takes on Tatum and the Celtics. Fans especially took offense to Smith questioning Brown’s attitude. Brown held his own in the debate in a series of back-and-forths leading up to Game 4.

His “friend, mentor, and advisor” Isiah Thomas has been Brown’s biggest defender. So when he posted a simple message of congratulations, fans appreciated his unrelenting support for Brown. “Congratulations @FCHWPO @celtics let it be known!” he wrote. For sure, Jaylen’s critics know now.

It was Shannon Sharpe who said the truth that Brown has been the most consistent and reliable player on the squad, averaging 23 and 24.7 points in regular and post-season respectively. “Congrats @FCHWPO on winning the Larry Bird award, MVP of Eastern Conference Finals. Thought he’s been the most consistent Celtic thru out the playoffs. He earned it. Congrats.”

Boston though is a franchise that only hangs championship banners. Brown and Tatum have made it this far a few times but this could be the season they finally bring the Larry O’Brien Trophy back to the franchise. Haters can take a hike while the Celtics are going full steam ahead.
