JJ Redick starts his new career in the NBA with a bang! The new Los Angeles Lakers head coach was officially introduced to the press today, and he made sure he kept his unfiltered side alive. Redick has an experience in various realms of the league. As a player, then as a commentator, an analyst through his podcast, and now a head coach. However, the latest role is something he does not have any experience in, which has landed him on the receiving end of criticism. To give a reply to his doubters, Redick dropped a few F-bombs, which has left two NBA icons divided.

JJ Redick was introduced as a head coach earlier today, where he was questioned about the misconceptions about him. The 40-year-old replied, It’s a valid question and I have certainly heard everything. It has been a really interesting six weeks or so just in terms of being part of the engagement farming industry. However, I don’t have a great answer for your question, because I really don’t give a f*** about it.” Hold on, this was not the only F-bomb.

Redick also shared that all he cares about is winning championships, and giving his players a better career. He said,I want to coach the Lakers, I want to coach the team. I don’t want to dispel the team. I want to become a great coach in the NBA. That’s all I f****** care about.” While the words could have scrutinized impact, it is not to say Redick does not have support on his side.

The former Los Angeles Lakers star Matt Barnes was a fan of this speech from Redick. He shared, Lol yessir Bubs“, supporting Redick’s bold reply to his doubters. But on the other hand, a former Denver Nuggets coach was expecting a formal press conference from the former Mavs star.

Former Nuggets coach George Karl has been the Lakers’ biggest criticizer. He was the first to question the team when they lost a game. He has highlighted the Lakers’ elimination from the playoffs quite often. Most importantly, he did not like the LA unit dismissing Darvin Ham. In general, he hates it when the coaches are fired when the fault is not on their side.

Karl has not been a huge fan of Redick either. He doesn’t believe a first-time head coach can change things in a team like the Lakers. After Redick’s conference today, he wrote on X, We’re in a new era of coaching press conferences when we’re dropping F-bombs at them.”

On May 3rd, Karl shared another tweet, So if the Lakers hire a new coach with zero experience (JJ)…that should fix everything right away! after Ham got fired and Redick was expected to be the new coach. It looks like we will hear more criticism from Karl now that Redick has made it to LA.
