Southern California’s largest wildfire, the Palisades Fire, is wreaking havoc as powerful winds fuel its rapid spread. What started as a small brush fire has escalated into a roaring blaze, growing exponentially since Wednesday.

While thousands have been affected by the tragic incident, there’s no denying that calamities spare no one, the common man, and stars alike. Similarly, those affected by the fire, just like a large population are multiple stars from the NBA community. So let’s have a closer look at four such names who have either sustained the damage to the property from the disaster or stand at the risk of suffering the damage.

As reported by CBS, the fire has already devoured at least 15,832 acres since it erupted on Tuesday morning in the affluent Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles. The devastation has raised alarms for properties in the area, including the home of NBA legend James Worthy.

Given the mansion’s location within Pacific Palisades, it’s likely at significant risk as the fire continues to rage. According to the LA Times, Worthy purchased the mansion in the gated Pacific Palisades community for $2,675,000. The home, as per the reports, is a blend of elegance and comfort, boasting five bedrooms, 5 1/2 baths. A library, a family room, soaring ceilings, and bleached hardwood floors. All of them spread across nearly 5,000 square feet of interior space.

Meanwhile, outdoors, the property features a large swimming pool with a spa, a championship north/south tennis court, and a three-car garage. While there were previous reports of Worthy selling his Bel Air mansion, there has been no update on him parting with this stunning estate.

With the fire threatening this picturesque neighborhood, the fate of Worthy’s mansion remains uncertain.

JJ Redick’s family in Pacific Palisades had to evacuate their house

The LA Lakers head coach opened up about the emotional toll the recent fires in the Los Angeles area have taken on his family. On Tuesday, Redick revealed that his loved ones were evacuated from their home in Pacific Palisades due to the escalating threat.

“I just want to acknowledge and send thoughts and prayers to everyone in the Palisades right now,” Redick shared before the Lakers’ game against the Dallas Mavericks. “That’s where I live… Our family, my wife’s family, my wife’s twin sister, they’ve evacuated. I know a lot of people are freaking out right now, including my family.”

With strong winds predicted, Redick’s concern was palpable. “From the sound of things, with the winds coming [Tuesday night], I know a lot of people are scared. So I just want to acknowledge that. Thoughts and prayers for sure, and hope everybody stays safe.”

Steve Kerr’s mother has lost her Pacific Palisades house in the devastating wildfire

The destructive wildfires sweeping through Los Angeles claimed another cherished home. Ann Kerr, the 90-year-old mother of Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr, has lost her Pacific Palisades house to the Palisades Fire. The home, rich in family history, was where Steve spent much of his childhood.

Ann shared the heartbreaking news in a group text to friends and acquaintances on Wednesday, responding to concerns about her safety, as reported by Ron Kroichick of the San Francisco Chronicle. Despite the devastation, Ann expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support. She stated she has felt heartened by all (the) loving messages she received during this difficult time.

She had evacuated the home a day earlier and is now staying with friends. Steve Kerr, meanwhile, spoke about the fires following the Warriors’ game against the Miami Heat, which ended in a 114-98 loss. “I want to send my thoughts and condolences to everybody in Los Angeles dealing with the fires,” he said. Acknowledging his mother’s loss, he added, “My mom lives in Pacific Palisades. She had to evacuate.”

However, it’s not just the residents in the Pacific Palisades who have had their houses either burned down or have them at risk.

Blake Griffin’s property in Brentwood could be at risk because of expanding fire

Former NBA star Blake Griffin may face significant risk to his Brentwood properties as a growing brush fire spreads in the area. The NBA player purchased his second Brentwood home in 2020 for $5.87 million. A charming 1930s traditional-style property. The house sits directly behind Griffin’s first Brentwood property: a modern farmhouse acquired for $19.1 million.

The proximity of the two homes means both are at risk as fire officials battle the spreading flames. Recent reports indicate that Los Angeles firefighters are working to contain a brush fire burning in an evacuated area of Brentwood. The blaze has been fueled by strong winds, with officials warning that the situation remains dangerous.

Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles County Fire Department confirmed that the brush fire was first spotted early in the morning near 2200 Old Ranch Road. It is believed to be a spot fire caused by winds carrying flames and embers from the nearby Palisades fire. That fire has already devastated the area, destroying over 1,000 homes.

Yet another region reportedly at risk as of now is Santo Monica.

Back in 2020, former Pacers forward Austin Croshere invested $4.6 million in a stunning modern farmhouse in Santa Monica. A stone’s throw from Crossroads School, where his basketball journey began. The home reportedly blends elegance and comfort, with its black-and-white exterior framed by a leafy courtyard.

Inside, it’s a vision of modern design. Crisp white walls, open-concept living spaces, and soaring vaulted ceilings in the dining room. Meanwhile, the glass walls flood the living room with natural light, while the kitchen’s gray Neolith countertops add a touch of sophistication.

Upstairs, the house features four bedrooms and 4.25 bathrooms. This includes a primary suite that feels more like a retreat, complete with a steam shower, spa tub, and a balcony lined with porcelain tiles. This is a home designed to be cherished—not risked. Unfortunately, risk is now looming on the horizon.

The Palisades Fire has Santa Monica on high alert, prompting city leaders to declare a state of emergency. Curfews are being considered for mandatory evacuation zones to support firefighting efforts during critical overnight hours.

While the ex-Pacers stars’ house might not seem to be in a position as risky as the other names on the list, there’s no denying that the situation is quite intense.
