JJ Redick isn’t happy with this year’s Christmas lineup. So the NBA veteran has come up with his own draw where he is starting the day with a “sacrificial lamb” game. On the recent episode of The Old Man & The Three podcast, Redick revealed which players he would’ve wanted to see play today.
So when his wishes are not going to be met this Christmas, the 39-year-old came up with his own set of games for the big day with Tim Legler. Redick said that he would’ve liked to see the Boston Celtics go against the Milwaukee Bucks in the opening game for the day.

Redick said, “I’m starting off at noon with arguably the premiere game ’cause I wanna get people going. I think sometimes, by putting the sacrificial lamb game at noon, you don’t get people going for the day.” He said that the opening game is a big factor behind people choosing to watch the rest of the games. So for Redick, the ideal way to kickstart the day would be to pit the Bucks against the Celtics, but with an additional interest. He said that if the Bucks go against the Celtics, in Boston, that would be magical for the fans.
Now there are several reasons as to why the NBA veteran thinks this will be a great matchup. There are two rivalries that he believes will create interest among fans. He said, “That game, that matchup will be so intriguing because of the trades made right before the season, and we would get that Dame vs Jrue matchup.” Jrue Holiday, the ex-Bucks star was traded to the Celtics at the beginning of this season. Damian Lillard on the other hand landed in Milwaukee after playing for the Portland Trail Blazers for 9 years.

Lillard’s trade was a messy one because, for the longest time, it was believed that he would end up in Miami. The 7x NBA All-Star also had shown interest in playing for the Miami Heat. However, to everyone’s shock, he was traded to the Bucks to form a new duo, Freak Time. After these two individuals, Redick also has his eyes on the superstars of the Bucks and the Celtics.
