A chain of reactions from Charles Barkley‘s criticism of the LA Lakers, calling them “bums”.

One of the first ones was Kendrick Perkins. Agreeing to have given some regretful takes as an analyst himself, the ex-Boston Celtics star expressed strong disagreement with Chuck’s opinion. Now, the next reaction has recently come from Kwame Brown. The former Lakers star had respect for the ‘Big Perk’ to admit his past shortcomings as an analyst. Brown, however, couldn’t find the same respect from him for JJ Redick.

Brown compared the former sharpshooter to the guy who has a lot to say when he’s outside the ring but does not do much once he’s inside it. “He was that guy: ‘Look, all you got to do is hit him with a hook, throw the uppercut. That’s all you gotta do.’ And then now that he’s in the ring, he can’t really do what he’s been talking about outside of the ring.”

The former NBA star further mentioned that Redick gave no grace to other coaches or players when was not in the hot seat like he is now. ” I don’t respect what JJ is saying because you’re only saying that now because you’re in the hot seat. … You were disrespecting them like you’re the smartest guy in the world!”

Kwame Brown is not wrong in his opinion of Redick’s comments in the past. The present head coach of the Lakers did not hold back from criticizing Doc Rivers when Doc had just taken over as the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks.

Rivers, back then, had stated things would have been much smoother for his transition into Bucks’ head coach had he not taken over mid-season.

“I’ve seen the trend for years,” Redick had said on ESPN’s First Take. “The trend is always making excuses. Doc, we get it. Taking over a team in the middle of a season is hard … it’s always an excuse. It’s always throwing your team under the bus … there’s never accountability with that guy.”

And now, with Redick struggling in the same role in which Rivers won a championship with the Celtics, Kwame Brown could not help but let JJ get a taste of his own medicine.

Is JJ Redick all talk and no action, or can he turn the Lakers around?

Charles Barkley called JJ Redick a dead man walking

During a fiery segment on Inside the NBA, ‘Sir Charles’ didn’t hold back while addressing Redick’s rocky debut as the Lakers head coach. With his signature bluntness, Barkley called Redick a “dead man walking”. And he didn’t shy away from taking shots at Redick’s recent controversial comments about the NBA’s declining TV ratings.

If you’ve been keeping up, the Duke alum’s remarks have stirred quite the debate. He blamed the league’s media partners for focusing too much on the negative rather than highlighting the league’s extraordinary talent and skill.

Now, Barkley wasn’t having any of that. He wasted no time poking fun at JJ’s idealistic take and his ambitious plans to revive the Lakers. “You come for the king, you better not miss. Because I can get you, brother,” Barkley said, humorously warning Redick about his lofty expectations. Chuck, however, didn’t stop there.

“The Lakers stink, man,” he continued, throwing in a metaphor for good measure, likening the LA head coach’s efforts to putting “makeup on that pig.” What started from a feud of sorts between Barkley and Redick seemed to have started a chain reaction with Chuck doubling down on his take against the Lakers, Kendrick Perkins getting involved in Lakers support and Kwame Brown chiming in with his opinion against JJ Redick’s abilities as a coach.
