Bronny James has been drafted, LeBron James is expected to sign an extension, and JJ Redick has officially filled the hot seat as a head coach. Everything is set for the Los Angeles Lakers, except for a few free-agent signings and maybe some trades. With all eyes on the LA unit for the next season, JJ Redick is expected to face the most pressure out of everyone in the team. However, Gilbert Arenas believes Redick is going to manage the pressure with ease by highlighting one of his infamous traits, which he noticed from the 40-year-old’s introductory press conference.

What does JJ Redick do differently from the previous head coaches of the Lakers? Should we not wait for the season to start to find that out? Maybe not, because here is an interesting observation from Arenas, who boldly accused Redick of lying. For starters, the Washington Wizards icon believes Redick is a terrific liar and that is going to be the changing point for the Lakers. Here’s how

“Hey just by this interview, he[Redick]’s fitting right in. He can sit in the camera and lie to our face. I love it. That’s Laker Nation right there. We can look you dead in the eye and tell you some other s***. You think you can lie like that and not be a great coach? He’s already fitting in and I’m loving it, and I think he is about to take us to the promise land,” said Arenas when asked about Redick.

Redick has agreed to a 4-year deal with the Lakers which will reportedly give him $8 million a season. Just like Arenas, many found Redick’s interview to be promising. Anyhow, you might also be intrigued to know the part where Redick was lying. So here it is.

The former three-point specialist made a lot of bold statements in his first interview with the media as a head coach. A few lines that caught the attention of many were, “He[LeBron James] didn’t provide any advice… LeBron and I did not talk about the Lakers job until Thursday afternoon, about 30 minutes after I was offered the job.”

This reply from Redick got a loud groan from one of the interviewers who was present at the conference. He also shouted, “Come on! hinting that Redick was lying there. The internet believes the same too. Though not popularly close friends prior to their podcast, James and Redick have visibily developed a dynamic over the last few months.

Regardless, the two will be ending the podcast with one final appearance soon, before laying all their focus on the championship. “I want to win championships. And I want my players to maximize their careers. That’s all I f—ing care about,” Redick also iterated to the reporters.
