Love really does make headlines—especially in the NBA world. Fans were in for a surprise when Jeremy Lamb, the former NBA guard, popped up on Instagram not with a highlight reel but with a romantic reveal. He’s dating Anjali Ranadive, daughter of Sacramento Kings’ owner Vivek Ranadive. Anjali, once the GM of the Stockton Kings, went public on Monday, sharing a cozy photo of the two kissing with the caption, “My pack,” in a joint post with her animal rescue foundation, Jaws and Paws. Naturally, that got the internet buzzing.

But just when people were getting used to seeing the couple together, Lamb found himself in the middle of controversy. He recently joined the Run Your Race Podcast, and while chatting about his time in the league, he dropped a surprising story about former Kings guard Kevin Martin. Lamb said Martin would intentionally avoid scoring too much to skip the All-Star selection. Lamb’s Kevin Martin anecdote quickly went viral—and drew ire from former teammates.

With headlines flying and accusations swirling, Lamb addressed the backlash in an Instagram video message to Kevin Martin. “To the bro Kmart. Bro, I’m sorry, bro… I thought it would show how elite you were,” Lamb said, sounding genuinely regretful.

He admitted that as a rookie in OKC, he misread Martin’s jest and didn’t anticipate how others might spin the story. “You would come to the bench and you would stand on me sometimes like, man, I ain’t scoring no more. But look, I’m good. It was a joke.”

What’s more, Lamb clarified that this wasn’t about one player. “Over my career… I’ve heard plenty of people want to be with their families instead of All-Star,” he added. “I didn’t know how people would look at that… it got chopped and screwed.” His tone? More reflective than defensive.

Finally, Lamb made it clear he never meant harm. “Kmart was one of the best scorers I have seen… So again, that’s my fault,” he admitted. “I’m not the type to put anybody’s business out. That’ll never be me.” He ended it with a heartfelt hope of reconnecting with Martin. Still, the question remains…

Did Jeremy Lamb expose a hidden side of Kevin Martin?

Interestingly, NBA podcasts have become a goldmine for behind-the-scenes drama, and Jeremy Lamb just added some unexpected fuel to that fire. While chatting on the Run Your Race Podcast with hosts Theo Pinson and AJ Richardson, Lamb dropped a wild detail about his early days in OKC. According to him, teammate Kevin Martin would sometimes stop scoring—on purpose—just to avoid being picked for the All-Star Weekend. Yep, you read that right.

And Lamb didn’t hold back. “Kevin Martin… He was a beast,” Lamb said. “Let’s say it was the second quarter, and say he got like 19 points. He’d look up [at the stat board] be like ‘Damn, I got too many points.’” The story got even stranger when Lamb explained Martin’s reasoning: “If I keep scoring, then they’ll make me an All-Star. I want that time to myself.” It left Lamb—and the podcast crew—shocked.

To add context, this all happened during the 2012–13 season, when both were in Oklahoma City. Lamb was a rookie, just starting in the league, while Martin was a nine-year vet already used to the grind. Though Martin only played one season with OKC, his role behind KD and Westbrook still made an impression.

Now at 42, Martin never did make an All-Star team. Yet his career numbers—17.4 points a game on nearly 44% shooting—show he definitely had the talent. So was it intentional or just misunderstood? Either way, Lamb’s story sure has people talking.
