Jaylen Brown has used this postseason efficiently to change the narrative around his name. After the 27-year-old signed the most expensive contract in league history last summer, a few were happy for him, but most doubted if he would be worth all the money. Brown has drastically improved in the last year and recently won the Larry Bird Trophy to put the league on notice. He is three wins away from ending all the criticism, but before that, Detroit Pistons legend Rasheed Wallace has a message for the 3x All-Star.

Brown signed a 5-year $304 million extension last year which created a controversy on the internet. The big question was if the Boston Celtics shooting guard could prove his worth. Wallace shared about the signing, Obviously somebody respects you if you signed 304-305. You are respected by your peers and your other coaches, other franchises. My mom told me, ‘Hey 50% of the people gonna love you and the 50% of the people gonna hate you. It’s all on what you do with it.”

What does Wallace think Brown is doing with it right now? The NBA champion said, “Sit back and look at the whole overall picture. Don’t look at the tree, look at the forest, and right now, he’s looking at the treeHey J Brown, look at the forest, not the tree, you are winning bro.” Rasheed Wallace gave Jaylen Brown the perfect message.

After winning the Eastern Conference Finals MVP, Brown continued his stellar display in Game 1 against the Dallas Mavericks yesterday. He dropped a team-high 22 points, which helped the Celtics demolish the Mavs by 18 points. Wallace spoke about Jayson Tatum as well in the above video, but it was a dig at the 26-year-old.

Rasheed Wallace “don’t give a f***” about Jayson Tatum being the face of the team

Over all these years, the Celtics have used Tatum as the face of their team when it comes to promotions and commercials. However, fans sometimes have made a case for Jaylen Brown being a better player. Brown is shooting above 50% from the field and nearly 37% from the three-point line. Tatum has also been powerful when it comes to scoring, but Brown is sinking buckets at the right time with great efficiency.

Wallace said in the above video, “Y’all can let Jay Tatum do all the commercials, this and that. I don’t give a f*** about that. As long as we get these dubs, I just got paid. The last thing to do for the both of them is, they just need the hardware,” hinting that this is the right time for them to win a chip.

This is the second time Brown has made it to the NBA Finals. He lost to the Golden State Warriors in 2022, but after Game 1 this season, the Celtics are favorites to lift the title, which will help Brown justify the $304 million signing.
