Isn't it heartwarming to see MJ's legacy continue through his grandson? What are your thoughts?

It’s fun because I can actually hold him, play with him, and I’m having fun watching him,” Michael Jordan once shared in a rare interview with NBC’s Today, speaking about his experience as a grandfather. At 61, the legendary basketball icon is known for keeping his personal life private, but every now and then, we get a glimpse into the family side of “His Airness.” And while Jordan himself doesn’t often speak about his role as a grandparent, his daughter, Jasmine, has been more forthcoming, offering fans a peek into her life with her son, Rakeem Michael Christmas.

Recently, Jasmine gave her Instagram followers a sneak peek into her weekend plans with Rakeem. “Classic movie with my baby boy #HappySaturday,” she wrote, alongside a playful poll for her 211k followers. She asked them to guess whether they were watching The Incredibles or Spies in Disguise, while a short boomerang clip showed young Rakeem dancing excitedly—completely immersed in the movie. But that’s not the only heartwarming moment Jasmine shared with the world.

Just days earlier, Jasmine celebrated a major milestone for her son—his preschool graduation. The proud mom posted a carousel of photos on Instagram, capturing Rakeem’s transition to kindergarten with the caption, “We say goodbye to the summer and goodbye to pre-school. Kindergarten🍎📚… we in here!! I’m so proud of you, son. You amaze me every single day, and there isn’t a single thing you can’t do.” In one of the photos, Rakeem even broke out into the viral “Griddy” dance, clearly thrilled by the occasion.

One of the most charming moments from the post came in the form of Rakeem’s goals, proudly written on his “first day of kindergarten” board. Unlike his grandfather, whose legacy is cemented in basketball, Rakeem dreams of becoming a musician. He also expressed his love for his mother and Jesus, showing the depth of his young heart. And while he initially claimed red as his favorite color, Jasmine was quick to clarify, saying it’s actually blue and green—colors he proudly sported with his stylish blue sneakers on his first day.

The big day wasn’t just celebrated by Jasmine and her followers. Even Grandma Juanita Vanoy, Michael Jordan’s ex-wife, shared in the joy, sending her blessings to her grandson. It was a day full of love, pride, and new beginnings for the Jordan family.

In the comment section of the post, Michael Jordan’s ex-wife wrote, Time is going too fast for your Glamma, Keemie! I’m so proud of you…just can’t believe you are starting kindergarten…my lil Gbaby.” Even the eldest son of MJ and Vanoy wrote, “Congrats, ‘phew!!!! 🎉🎉🎉💪🏾💪🏾.

Speaking about the family’s reaction, Jasmine Jordan shared that the 6x NBA champion took some time adjusting. “At first, he wanted my son to call him ‘Mike’ or ‘Michael,’ and I’m like, ‘Dad, we’re not doing this. You have to accept the grandpa title. It is what it is.” With many titles around his name, being a Grandpa was an emotional one.

As Jasmine revealed in another interview, even though the title took some time, Michael Jordan was already hands-on with his grandson. Once called a ruthless athlete by many, Jordan became a “softie” for his grandson. Jasmine also explained that the sporting aspect will be instilled eventually. Until the competitive spirit kicks in again, MJ has no problem expressing his love for Rakeem, which was difficult at first.

“Stay tuned for more such updates and join us for the exciting second episode of the “Dual Threat Show” as our host BG12 sits down with Georgia Bulldogs star and Mountain West All-Freshman Team Selection, Asia Avinger.”
