James Harden is aging like fine wine. Since the season tipped off, the 35-yo has been climbing the all-time scoring ladder at an impressive pace. A few weeks ago, he cracked the NBA’s top 12 scorers, reaching a jaw-dropping 27,316 career points. But just when you thought he was done making history, he went ahead and did it again.
This time, it was against Memphis. As the Clippers took on the Grizzlies, Harden wasted no time setting the tone. He dropped 30 points and 9 assists. With a 5-for-10 performance from beyond the arc, he now has 202 points this season. And with that, he became the first player in NBA history at 35 or older to record 1,500+ points, 500+ assists, and 200 three-pointers in a single season.
But interestingly, Harden saw this coming. How? Because he straight-up told Dwyane Wade. “James Harden came up, we got a chance to talk to James Harden at the space event at All-Star, right?” Wade shared on his podcast. “And James came up on that, we were just looking at James like, ‘What’s going on, bro?’ We was like, ‘Why you still doing, how you still doing what you doing?'”

And Harden’s response tells everything about his mentality and approach. “And he was like, ‘I’m in my bag. I’m still in my—’ He in his metaphor… you see the car he just pulled up in? With the sneak with Maserati? It was a Maserati. They call the colorway ‘Metamorphosis.’ He’s in his metamorphosis bag,” Wade explained.

And it’s not just talk. Co-host Chris Johnson backed it up, revealing what Harden told Dwyane Wade next: “He said he felt better than ever. He looked right at D [Dwyane Wade] like, ‘Bro, I feel great. I’m here for a while… and I feel good about basketball.'” Safe to say, The Beard isn’t going anywhere.

James Harden proves is still that guy
The LA Clippers have been on a roll, and James Harden has everything to do with it. As they get ready to take on the Memphis Grizzlies, the Clippers are riding a four-game winning streak, having won seven of their last eight games. And during that stretch, Harden has been nothing short of spectacular, averaging 29.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 9.3 assists per game.
It’s the best he’s looked in a Clippers jersey, and he’s showing everyone he’s still got plenty left in the tank.
What’s your perspective on:
Is James Harden defying age, or is this just a temporary resurgence for the Clippers?

“Obviously, we’re playing our butts off and finding the rotations, who is playing well and going with that,” Harden said after the game. “We got a full roster. We’ve been waiting on this moment the entire year, and now we’re here to where we actually see some good Clipper basketball.”

Heading into Friday’s matchup, Harden’s season numbers are just as solid. He’s putting up 22.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 8.7 assists per game, earning himself his 11th All-Star appearance. And if he keeps this up, an eighth All-NBA selection could very well be on the horizon. Not bad for a guy some thought was past his prime—isn’t it?
Even in his 16th season, Harden remains one of the game’s most dangerous offensive weapons. And if the Clippers plan to make a deep playoff run, he’ll be at the heart of it—leading the way, just like always.
