Jamal Crawford still regrets one career decision. Despite his best performances, he regrets not reaching the Finals with the Los Angeles Clippers. However, there’s another incident that left bitter feelings. The three-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year said his biggest regret was changing positions when he joined the Chicago Bulls.
During his latest appearance on the Captain Jack Podcast, Crawford was asked about his biggest regret. He responded by stating how his decision to switch from point guard to shooting guard prevented him from having a Hall of Fame career. Crawford further emphasized that while he loved being versatile, his true expertise lay in being a point guard.
“My biggest regret is moving from the point guard position because for me like, I was ahead of my time being a 6’5 point guard but once they saw I could score and I’m so like, just cool I’m like all right I’ll go to two. If I would have stayed at the point, I could have had like a legendary Hall of Fame career,” Crawford said on the Caption Jack Podcast.

This isn’t the first time Crawford has expressed regret about changing teams. Just a few days ago, he shared a nostalgic picture of himself wearing a Chicago Bulls jersey on Instagram. The caption read, “I’m a point guard who can score. My biggest regret on the court was changing positions. If only there were positionless basketball back then 😌🤷🏾♂️. TBT.”

There has always been a debate on whether the Sixth Man of the Year should be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Despite his phenomenal performance throughout his 20-year NBA career, Crawford never made it to the All-Star. Crawford once stated that he would have made at least 5 All-Star appearances if he had not switched to the shooting guard position. The former Chicago Bulls player’s ball-handling and shooting skills were impressive. His contributions to all the teams he has played for in the league indeed put him into consideration. What is your take on this?
