NBA great and analyst Paul Pierce has come under fire ever since his opinion about his former rival LeBron James not being a top 5 player in the league currently. Despite the mind-blowing display of skills that resulted in James being named the IST MVP, The Truth seems to find it hard to acknowledge his talent. Trying to justify his earlier statement, Pierce once again caught the ire of fans for naming other NBA stars in the same category as LeBron.
His message on X read, “It’s not hate on Lebron it just is what it is he arguably between 6-9 Curry Durant Gilgeous Booker all have an argument.”

Naming Stephen Curry, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Kevin Durant, and Devin Booker, Pierce added more contenders to the argument. Well, as usual, some fans didn’t take it lightly and trolled the former Boston Celtics star. One of them wrote, “It’s ok. You were a great player. Just bad analyst.” But who was in Pierce’s top 5?
During a live stream segment of the IST Cup game along with Kevin Garnett and Tennis star Nick Kyrgios, Pierce had named his top 5 players in the league. Much to fans and Garnett’s surprise, the Lakers star’s name wasn’t there. The Celtics great’s top 5 featured, Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, Jayson Tatum, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Joel Embiid. While there were some fans in support of Pierce that day, many, including Garnett, disagreed with him.

Many fans have also suggested that the exclusion might be because of the intense rivalry between Pierce and James. However, the Celtics icon gave a reason for stating the same. Whatever the reason is for his choice, Pierce’s former teammate Garnett is certainly not a supporter of it, though.
The Big Ticket was dismissive of Pierce’s take and furiously refuted it. He said, “Get your a** outta here. I saw Joel Embiid have 15 points in the final game. Get your garbage a** outta here. F** is you talking about, bum? M*****f**ing (Joel) Embiid at 15 points in a Game 7.”
