A lot of criticism of it, but LeBron James and Bronny are now set to create history. As the first father-son duo to play in the NBA at the same time for the same team, they surely will have all the attention in the league. And ex-NBA star Jeff Teague believes the instance will be no less than a cinematic moment.
During his recent episode of the Club 520 podcast, Teague stated the first game that features the father-son duo is going to get a major hype. He believes not matter the duration, but Bronny will appear in the first game itself. “It’s like a movie… [Bronny] gonna get a steal and pass it back to Bron, and Bron gonna dunk it, and that shit gonna be everywhere,” Teague added.
The podcast co-host Brandon Hendricks emphasized if Bronny throws his father an alley-oop in the game, the internet will break. Now, though Hendricks means no disrespect, he believes the 19-year-old playing in the first game of the season will be crazy. However, co-host DJ Wells seemed to differ, as he is of the opinion the LA Lakers are not that good at the moment. “I’m sorry… After D-Russ (Russell), it gets spooky on the Lakers at the guard play,” he said.

And although Wells does not consider him better than Gabe Vincent, after Russell he would put Bronny in the game. Meanwhile, Hendricks hinted at concern if JJ Redick in his first game as a head coach will go with this move. Notably, Redick’s selection as the head coach itself brought criticism from a certain section of the basketball community. So he too has to prove himself, all eyes on him.

Irrespective of that, Teague is quite sure Bronny will play in the first game. “I’m saying that first game, Ronnie gonna get in that first game just cause it’s for the movie. Like the movie… I swear to God, Bron documentary is being filmed as we speak…” Teague added. As for the concern around Bronny playing in the first game with Lakers, his unofficial debut with the team has not witnessed a great start.
“Doesn’t matter if he doesn’t play well”: LeBron James on Bronny’s debut with the Lakers
The ex-USC star made his debut with the Lakers in the summer league contest against Sacramento Kings. The Lakers faced a 108-94 defeat at the game held at Chase Center in San Francisco. Bronny finished the game with 4 points on 2-of-9 shooting and 2 assists.
The sub par start was bound to add to the criticism Bronny has been facing ever since the Lakers drafted him. Now, LeBron James recently told ESPN that his son does not pay heed about any of the outside noise. “Bronny plays. He works his tail off. When he goes home, he plays video games,” he added.
Notably, Bron missed his son’s debut game since he was in Las Vegas with the US team for 2024 Olympics. But he is said to have caught his son’s first basket in some video. As of now, the 4x NBA champ just wants his son to familiarize himself with the pace and physicality of the game.

“But what he does in the California Classic and Summer League, it doesn’t matter if he plays well, and it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t play well. I just want him to continue to grow, practices, film sessions, his individual workouts,” he added. As for the latest update, Bronny has sustained a knee injury and missed his game against the Warriors.
