However, it still doesn’t guarantee Penny’s trust in Kobe Bryant. In a recent interview session, Penny Hardaway sat with the team of Point Forward with Andre Iguodala and Evan Turner and shared his insights about his career days with Orlando Magic wherein he was a teammate of Kobe Bryant and Shaq.
The glimpse of the interview was then posted on the official YouTube channel with the title, “Penny Hardaway: The OG Point Forward”. As expected, within a few minutes of getting aired it garnered massive attention. Actually, every spectator across the basketball world was quite surprised by Penny’s recent reveal “ it should have been me“. But why did he say so??

While giving the interview, Penny was asked, “What do you think about the last six championships, five championships, or four championships?“ by one of the hosts. To which, Penny replied, “I think Shaq was pretty big….At that time, Shaq was so young, but he was going to be the man. Ultimately, he became the man. Our team was just so young.” But this wasn’t the surprising part.

Penny Hardaway reflecting on Shaq
Penny added, “Watching him and Kobe together, for sure, there was some jealousy there because I felt like that should have been me and Shaq. It just didn’t happen, man. But I promise you, if we would have stayed together, it would have been championship one. ” However, this was not everything he made waves with.

Moving on, he went on, “Whatever was saying in my point was, I feel like Shaq wasn’t ready. I don’t know about not being ready. I don’t think his game of maturity was there. I like to do Shaq because he expressed how in the last few years of his career, he wasn’t himself. It kind of hurt. It hurt him emotionally in terms of like, I don’t know.” making his point clear.
