The Last Dance managed to ruffle some feathers in the NBA. Even three years later, the incidents shown in the documentary are still being inspected. The latest Jerry Krause disrespect during the Ring of Honor ceremony added fuel to it as well. Recently, NBA veteran Isiah Thomas spoke on the legacy of Krause.

Krause said that the way he was disrespected during his time was unfair for a man who did so much for the Chicago Bulls franchise. Singing high praises for Krause, he said, “We can make the argument that Jerry Krause was the best and the greatest President/General Manager that Chicago sports has ever had.”

The NBA veteran recalled watching The Last Dance documentary series and feeling dejected over the way Krause was treated by the players. Although he didn’t take any names, the documentary revealed that the people who had issues with the ex-GM were Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. He said, “He won six championships. There’s no other GM, President that I can think of in Chicago that won six and was more effective than him.”

Thomas also reflected on the disrespect toward Krause that was almost normalized within the team and the fans got a glimpse of it in the documentary. He said, “The way he was treated by the players, you know, after watching The Last Dance, I’ve said this before, I’ve never seen a President or a general manager of a team be so disrespected. When he got on a bus or was around the players, I just couldn’t believe how they treated him and how they disrespected him.”

The NBA veteran is not wrong with his assessment of the matter because we all saw the way Krause was portrayed in the documentary. However, to equate that with the recent incident and say that the fans were made to believe that the ex-GM was wrong for the team, will also not be correct.

During that time, the Bulls were pretty much running the NBA and were the hottest property in the world of basketball. This is why, anything that was happening within the organization was also conveyed to the media and public through various channels. So the fans’ attitude toward Krause has always been on the negative side. However, that shouldn’t allow anyone to disrespect a dead man and make his wife cry on the night when he is being honored by his franchise.
