After his retirement, the ESPN analyst has continued to make waves in sports media with his podcasts and shows. While most people are aware of the retired NBA player’s professional career, there’s one question on many people’s minds. Is he married? The NBA champion was married to Gloria Govan and had twin sons. However, the two parted ways just a couple of years after getting married in 2013.

Who is Anansa Sims?

The 45-year-old is a renowned model. Sims has been featured on various TV shows such as America’s “The Mo’Nique Show,” “Next Top Model,” and “The Wendy Williams Show” among others. 

She was born in New York to her famous parents, Beverly Johnson and Danny Sims. The name Beverly might ring a bell. Many might be aware of Johnson, who was a popular model. She has appeared on the cover pages of American Vogue and British Vogue. And Sims has followed in the footsteps of her mother.

Sims’s father Danny is also quite popular for his work as a record label producer. Jamaican singer and icon Bob Marley signed his first international deal with Sims. In October 2012, Anansa’s father passed away due to colon cancer.

Before her relationship with Barnes, Sims was married to former NFL player David Patterson. The two tied the knot in 2010. During the time they were married, both made an appearance in the reality TV show called “Beverly’s Full House”.  

The two have a daughter, Ava Brielle Patterson, born in 2011, and two sons, David Bernard Patterson III and Dean Danny Benjamin Patterson in 2012 and 2014. It seems the seven-year itch got them as the two ended their relationship in 2017. The same year, Barnes announced his retirement to the public.

After her divorce, the model met the former Golden State Warriors player Barnes. The two welcomed their son, Ashton Joseph Barnes, in 2018. “I couldn’t have done it without you my Love ❤️ You talked me through every push…held my hand…and said exactly what I needed to hear to get our little man here,” Anansa wrote on her Instagram handle to share the news with her followers. 

And after a brief but ugly breakup in 2020, the two decided to put a seal on their relationship. The couple got engaged in 2022. They often share adorable pictures of their family vacations on their social media handles.

The beef between David Patterson and Matt Barnes

The few exchanges between Patterson and Barnes haven’t been very nice. Back in October of 2022, David reportedly accused Barnes of “mistreating” his three sons. As per sources, there was even a restraining order filed against the former NBA player. Just last year, Barnes was also spotted in a verbal altercation after the game between the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers. The clip can be seen on X.
