“Involving Shaquille (O’Neal) Is Always Sketchy”: Classy Ex-Wife Refuses to Expose Shaq’s ‘Not Great Reputation’ in Latest Venture

Shaquille O’Neal‘s ex-wife Shaunie has a memoir coming. It becomes obvious that Shaq will be a part of the memoir and some secrets are bound to be spilled. Although she made it clear during her recent conversation with PEOPLE that she is not trying to throw shade on the Big Man, she has a few things to say.

Shaunie told the magazine, “Anything involving Shaquille is always a sketchy thing because he is who he is, and despite what our story is, no one ever wants to hear what could come across as not the greatest reputation.”

She said that Shaq being so open to sharing stories of their marriage and what brought it to an eventual end made her more comfortable in sharing those stories with the public. She said, “I was like, oh, okay, he told on himself.” Infidelity played a huge role in the failure of their marriage. Even the Big Man has acknowledged on several occasions that he wasn’t his best self during his marriage with Shaunie.

He also blames himself for their marriage falling apart. Despite that, Shaunie was hesitant at first on whether she should put these stories out for the people to see or not. Soon she found a way to carefully tread that line so that she could present her truth without destroying Shaq’s name and reputation. She said, “I’m literally telling my story and my journey, which he was a part of. So, I’ve always been a little nervous about that, but I think I did a good job at sharing my story without destroying him because that’s not my intent at all, ever.”

More importantly, Shaunie revealed that Shaq is unaware of the things she has talked about in her memoir. “[Shaquille] has not read it. I haven’t shared it with anybody but my husband and my publicist at this point.” However, she did admit that she wishes to allow Shaq to have a look at all the content before it goes out for publication and distribution.

This doesn’t only apply to Shaq, in fact, she plans to let everyone who has been mentioned in her memoir have an opportunity to take a look, because she thinks those people deserve to know directly from her and not after publication. Shaunie’s upcoming memoir might bring a lot of behind-the-scenes information about her last marriage with the Big Man.
