“Till today I think that’s number one all-time interview for me,” said a $350 million worth entrepreneur about Kobe Bryant six months ago. The 45-year-old interviewed the Los Angeles Lakers star in 2019, and titled the video ‘Kobe Bryant’s Last Great Interview’. Born in Iran and moved to the States in ’89, this entrepreneur has been a die-hard Lakers fan since. So when asked about the Lakers #24, Patrick Bet-David ended the conversation by once again reiterating, “It was one of my favorite conversations of my lifetime.”

The New York Yankees minority owner Bet-David appeared on the Stephen A. Smith show. And when asked about what comes to his mind when Kobe is mentioned, PBD did not hesitate with his answer. He said on Smith’s YouTube channel, “Dude, it was like the coolest moment.” The author of ‘Choose Your Enemies Wisely’, in another interview claimed that he had manifested the Kobe Bryant interview since 2010.

The 5x NBA Champion not only made Bet-David comfortable but also spent around 30 minutes with his family backstage. Before facing the crowd, Kobe asked PBD about the number of attendees and whether Bet-Davis was nervous about the interview. The author said No, and Kobe instantly said “Yeah me neither.”

Patrick Bet-David continued about how Kobe Bryant made an old lady feel like she was part of the family. “Then all of a sudden this lady shows up and probably in her early 70s, white lady and they hug each other as if it’s his grandma.” PBD described it as the most pleasant conversation he watched by standing next to them.

Talking about the interview from 2019, Bet-David felt that a bond was created after the interview. “Now that was my guy, man. I mean, I’m a, I’m a die hard Kobe guy. I can’t even describe it to you. It was one of my favorite conversations of my lifetime.”

The Purple and Gold Legend’s sit-down interview seemed to have been liked by the majority of the people, with over 5.5 million views in 4 years. But the former running mate of Kobe Bryant blocked Patrick Bet-David after the interview.

PBD made a ‘Big’ mistake during the Kobe Bryant interview

The ‘Black Mamba’ and Bet-David discussed Lakers’ days, mindset, business, and untold stories. However, he asked Kobe Bryant, “Who would Shaq be if he had your work ethic?” Shaquille O’Neal got upset by the question and immediately messaged the host. PBD said that the message was, “What kind of a stupid a** question is that? Why would you ask a question like that? Go do something with your small a** company.”

He even said that Shaq blocked him for three years. The beef ultimately got over when in 2022, O’Neal did a similar interview with PBD. And when the same question about the work ethic was asked to the 4x NBA champion, he said, “I would have been Shaq.” Plus, he described Kobe Bryant as the hardest working player ever. Bet-David has also described Kobe Bryant in several ways.

He once called him “the psycho competitor“. According to Street and Smith’s ranking, during his time at Lower Merion High School, Kobe was not the best player. He was ranked 57th on the list, which Bryant obviously did not take kindly to. So he made a ‘kill list’ and one by one he set a goal to perform better against them.
