After all the revelations Shaunie Henderson made in her memoir and his recent comments on Unapologetically Angel, safe to say you can’t turn to Dr Shaquille O’Neal for serious fan advice. He has some bizarre takes though. Another one of Shaq’s wild relationship takes came up when a fan messaged him on The Big Podcast. Now Shaq confirmed long before Shaunie made a book about it that he was not an ideal husband. She went from ignoring his infidelity to divorcing him for it. Contrary to Shaunie’s very stern stance on the subject, O’Neal plays a bit fast and loose.

With 2Chainz in the house, Adam Lefkoe read out the message from a fan on the ‘Ask Dr. O’Neal’ segment of the podcast. “I saw my wife kissing a female coworker… I don’t know the best awy to approach it…” The fan is clearly dealing with a lot of mixed emotions from the sound of it. But Shaq kept his advice simple. “I’m going to be happy. I’mma be happy.”

Lefkoe and 2Chainz are not looking very surprised but they prod him to elaborate. O’Neal says that he’d not discuss it with the wife unless she wants to if he was in the fan’s place. “But… you act like you ain’t even never seen it.” 

His advice depends on the person the fan’s wife cheated with. “You see her kissing a man, now it’s going to an argument… ‘cuz your mind takes you places like you see something, your mind takes you places. Like you see something and it manipulates you like, ‘oh, is this why when I called her yesterday… she always talking about James.’ But now you see her kissing a woman.. my mind is going to take me the fantasy side.”

2Chainz even confirmed that Shaq cool with the ‘work wife/husband’ concept and wouldn’t confront the other person either. This is not how Shaunie Henderson responded with when she discovered Shaq cheating.

Shaunie Henderson had a strong reaction to Shaq’s infidelity

Shaunie and Shaquille O’Neal were together for a decade and married for eight of those. But before their wedding in 2002, the former Shaunie Nelson had known about Shaq’s infidelity. In her memoir, Undefeated, she detailed incidents where Shaq’s other affair partners confronted Shaunie at games.

Once incident she narrated in her book occurred in 2005. The then-Heat star was playing in the All-Star weekend in Denver at the time. “I arrived at the hotel where the team usually stayed when they were in town. The check-in clerk said, ‘Oh, Ms. O’Neal, you left your scarf and gloves here last time. I’ll get them for you.’ Before I could say anything, he brought out a scarf and gloves that were not mine. I had never been to this hotel before.”

The employee had mistakenly believed Shaunie was the person always accompanying Shaq to this hotel. She realized her husband was bringing another woman posing as ‘Mrs O’Neal’ behind her back. The revelation had Shaunie “seething with anger.”

Despite their fights and Shaq’s promises to not cheat on her again, she found more evidence of him straying. It reached a boiling point and Shaunie separated in 2009. After an attempt at reconciliation, they finalized their divorce in 2011.

Shaunie and Shaq are better co-parents and friends now. O’Neal also admits he wasn’t good to her. But his recent opinions on relationships make fans believe he’s not learned from his marriage failing.
