NBA Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade and Hollywood star Gabrielle Union have been married for over nine years now. The couple faced its fair share of ups and downs initially, with Union stating that they were “not in a good place” after Wade had fathered a child with someone else. However, she chose to “love him and forgive him” and they seem to be going strong now. But what is the secret to their success? The 50-year-old actor opened up about dealing with her husband and how they keep communication open, leaving no space for “illogical arguments”.

The Flash and Gab married in 2014 and seem to be the most perfect couple in the NBA. From having entrepreneurial ventures together and raising three kids, the power couple of the NBA is going strong in their marriage. 

The dynamics of NBA’s power couple

In an interview with Nina Westbrook, Gabrielle Union opened up about her marriage with Dwyane Wade. When asked about the communication rules and what kept the couple happy, Gab had an amusing response.

She stated, “Oh, y’all have rules. See, that’s probably where I went South like I’m like, all bets are off, the gloves are off, I’m coming for your neck um that if that’s what you understand that I’m gonna find a way to meet you where you are.”

However, Union changed her tone and said the couple avoided “illogical and unreasonable” arguments. “Illogic is the quickest way to light the fuse. Like I don’t know, I don’t know what to do with unreasonable or illogical arguments. They just feel stupid.”

The former America’s Got Talent judge went on to voice her frustration with people’s obsession over “winning” in any argument and going one-up over the significant other. 

From a break to blissful matrimony: Union and Wade’s story

The 50-year-old actor has had notable relationships with famous and influential people in the past. Union, post her divorce from former NFL player Chris Howard, crossed paths with the emerging NBA star Dwyane Wade in February 2007. They first met at the Super Bowl party, which they co-hosted.

However, the first meeting did not hold much significance as Wade, during the time, was in the midst of his divorce from Siohvaughn Funches. Wade and Funches finalized their divorce in 2010. In the same year, Union and Wade publicly embraced their relationship at the Summer Groove Benefit Dinner in Florida. The couple married in 2014 despite taking a small break in 2013 and they have been growing stronger ever since.
