“Ice Spice, I Love You”: Shaq, Who Once Rejected Flirting With the Pop Star, Bluntly Toys With Her on FaceTime

Shaquille O’Neal has many identities to him, and ladies’ man is one of the many. Donning a long list of dating history, Shaq has often worn the title. Now, it shines once again following an instance this year where the 4X NBA champion had, in a way, flirted with rapper Ice Spice. Although he denied it back then, now he may just have given the fans something else to gossip about with his on-podcast face-time with the ‘Pretty Girl’ singer.

Appearing on his ‘The Big Podcast with Shaq’, Shaquille O’Neal face-timed the rapper and said, “Hi, I’m on the podcast. I just want to say hello Ice Spice, I love you.” The 24-year-old also replied with an “I love you” and the call ended with Shaq saying he’ll talk to her later. However, YouTuber Funny Marco, who was also on the podcast, believes that it was not Ice Spice on the call. “That was not ice spice. That’s somebody’s aunty…” he said hilariously.

This came after podcast co-host Adam Lefkoe told Shaquille O’Neal that he could talk to Ice Spice by asking her to be the spokesperson for Icy Hot. Notably, Icy Hot is a top topical pain relief brand, now owned by Shaq himself. It was after this “spokesperson” idea that the former LA Lakers star called the 24-year-old rapper. It is worth mentioning that it was in February this year when the 4x NBA champ met Ice Spice during the Super Bowl.

In an earlier episode of his podcast show, Shaquille O’Neal explained how he met the rapper when he had gone to Taylor Swift’s Allegiant Stadium suite during halftime of the Super Bowl. It was later, when he shared a photo of the moment with the caption “and @icespice is so dam fine thanks @taylorswift,” that spectators began to allege flirting. But Shaq says he had a different motive for the caption.

Shaquille O’Neal’s caption well intended?

Even though Shaq praised the beauty of the 24-year-old, he denied flirting with her. However, some Instagram users believed Shaq was actually trying his luck with the rapper. “Shaq shot his shot… but it was a free throw,” commented one such user.

But the former NBA star claimed it was more of a respect from his side than flirting. “The reason why I put out the post with Ice Spice, not ’cause I was trying to flirt, but I didn’t really blow her off, but I just wanted to show her some respect too,” he said. The former Lakers star further stated that the whole reason for him putting up the photo was that he was in it and it was all about, “‘Oh, Shaq met Taylor’ and [Ice Spice] was in the picture.'” He says the caption was to lay some attention on the rapper since Taylor and him were going to be the primary focus of conversation.

Further in the podcast, Shaquille O’Neal claimed this, anyway, is not his way of flirting. “I don’t flirt like that… Just ’cause I say ‘hi’ don’t mean I’m tryna slide in the DMs,” he said.
