Carmelo Anthony might be retired, but he still has the game in his hands. It has been more than a year since the New York Knicks legend bid farewell to the NBA. But it looks like he can still school the active players in the league. In a recent viral video, 39-year-old Anthony was seen battling Knicks forward Julius Randle with some tough fadeaway buckets. However, the one most impressed was American rapper Ice Cube, who had a special request for Anthony.

Requesting Anthony to return to the NBA would be a stretch, but there are several other tournaments with huge fan bases all around America. The ‘Big 3’ is one of them which was founded by Ice Cube. After Melo’s sizzling fadeaways took over the internet, Ice Cube posted on X, “Guys like Melo should play in @thebig3, for the culture, love of the game, fans and peers who depend on a league like @thebig3.”

The Big-3 tournament holds a 3v3 format which would be perfect for Anthony, considering his unstoppable post moves. Apart from that, it will be a chance for him to stay in touch with the game, and like Ice Cube said, it’s good for the fans as well.

It’s shocking to see the number of retired players who continue to play in the Big 3. Some of the big names would be Stephen Jackson, Joe Johnson, Al Jefferson, Michael Beasley etc. Jackson was a consistent player in the Big 3 for a good number of years. He was a part of the inaugural season back in 2017. His team ‘Killer 3’ made it to the championship game back in 2019, but sadly, they lost to the ‘Triple 3’. 19-year NBA veteran Charles Oakley was their coach.

In 2017, Philadelphia 76ers legend Allen Iverson signed up for the league, not just as a player, but also as a coach and the captain of his team. He averaged only nine minutes throughout the season as his main role was to be the coach. However, he quit after playing just one year in the Big 3.
