Is Charles Barkley making the right move by considering a jump to showbiz? What do you think?

Lights, camera, and Chuck! Actor and star Charles Barkley has a nice ring to it. Almost as much as basketball legend and NBA analyst, Charles Barkley. Interesting to note that Hollywood is ready for Sir Charles anytime. Not only have Amazon, NBC, and ESPN expressed their desire to steal Chuck from TNT, but so have some TV shows. After canceling his retirement plans, Barkley is on a crossroads, waiting for Turner to come up with a game plan. While he’s waiting to figure out in which direction Inside the NBA goes, he’s looking at some acting offers.

The hosts of The Roc and Manuch Show were playing when they asked Chuck if he considered appearing on a scripted TV show. They’re not talking about the unscripted madness on Inside the NBA and interviews he does weekly. He disclosed that ahead of coming on the show, he actually had a standing offer.

I actually got a thing in my email today to do a cameo on a show called Trent.” That is ABC’s Will Trent, the hosts confirmed. The show starring Ramón Rodríguez as the titular character wrapped its second season in February and was renewed for a third season two months later. The show films in Atlanta, where Inside the NBA is also based.

Now that season 3 began filming in August, the show is building a guest repertoire and Chuck is top of the list. As a fan of the police procedural genre, Barkley is tempted. “And I like the show. And I was like, I never thought about it, but I just got the email today… so I’m going like, I’mma see if I can make it work ‘cuz I like doing stupid stuff, man.”

You can hardly call this stupid, though. The hosts and fans are all for Chuck’s scripted drama foray. Roc and Mauch even brought Stephen A. Smith’s history on General Hospital to claim Barkley would be a great fit on TV. He has the resume for it too.

The Inside Guys can troll Barkley’s acting on Space Jam all they want but who gets to boast acting alongside Bugs Bunny? And there was that thing in 2015, when Chuck had a cameo in a little show called Suits. It was while Meghan Markle was still on the show. Barkley was Harvey Spectre’s client who talked him out of suing Michael Jordan. He’s also had a brief appearance on Modern Family and did voiceovers in animated series.

If Chuck takes the offer, it wouldn’t be difficult for him to head to the Will Trent set near TNT. Especially since he makes it sound like there’s not much going on at Studio J.

TNT situation could change Charles Barkley’s mind

In nearly every interview recently, Barkley has spoken about why he decided to stay at Turner. The network reps met him in Philadelphia to convince him to stay and he stayed to save jobs. But when he asked what they’d do after 2025, he said, We haven’t figured that out yet.”

Barkley has not been able to give a different answer every time he’s asked about it. He believes they might have to pay $300,000 for NBA highlights. He claimed that there’s a skeleton crew at TNT and no one to even answer the phone.

Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith are yet to announce their decisions. Ernie Johnson likely won’t leave. But the new NBA partners have expressed their interest in Chuck and the entire team.

Barkley claims he doesn’t want to start over with a new crew. But since he’s toying with acting now, could he be open to other offers?
