The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the most popular sports franchises in the world. The team was filled with legends like Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Cooper, James Worthy, Byron Scott, Kurt Rambis, and so forth. The team members’ on-court and off-court lives were dramatized by the series “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty”.

While NBA legend James Worthy might not miss the show much, most fans didn’t have the opportunity to experience that era first-hand.
The show “Winning Time” was based on the book Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980s by Jeff Pearlman. The show was first aired in March 2022.
It was a hit among the Laker fans irrespective of their age, even though legends like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, and Jerry West criticized it. On the other hand, the show did not do well and the ratings went down.
