The Gordon siblings had athletic parents, Shelly Davis and Ed Gordon. Drew might not have been able to reach great heights in the league but his dreams are being fulfilled by his brother Aaron. Hailing from an athletic family, Aaron has achieved a lot of attention and appreciation for his skills. Born in San Jose, the 2x California Mr. Basketball had an impeccable high school basketball career. During his run, the Archbishop Mitty High School won two state championships. While playing for the Arizona Wildcats, the 28-year-old and his team clinched the Pac-12 regular season title and reached the Elite Eight of the 2014 NCAA tournament.
While Drew went undrafted in the 2012 NBA draft, his younger brother was drafted by the Orlando Magic in the 2014 NBA draft. He made a name for himself as a high-flying dunk expert, who somehow didn’t win the Slam Dunk Competition even once. Later, in 2021, the 2013 McDonald’s All-American Game MVP was traded to the Denver Nuggets and that’s where his career took off.
The 28-year-old’s tenth NBA season was quite impressive. Along with Victor Wembanyama, he was the only player to make more than 150 dunks and 40 three-pointers this season. Gordan showed his best performance in the series against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Both Drew and the Denver Nuggets star had the same dream of sharing the NBA court once. And they did. One of the most heartwarming memories was witnessing the Gordon brothers playing on the NBA court together for the first time ten years ago when Drew signed with the Philadelphia 76ers breifly.
“It’s been a lifelong goal for us to play on the same stage at the highest level. Today, even though it’s preseason, it’s being accomplished. It’s a huge accomplishment for us and a huge goal that we’ve been able to reach,” Drew had earlier stated. The Gordon brothers always had support from their sister Elisabeth.
Who is Elizabeth Gordon?
Aaron’s elder sister, Elisabeth, completed her graduation at Harvard University. Like her brothers, Elizabeth also played college basketball from 2011 to 2014. When Aaron was drafted at the age of 18, Elisabeth became his agent to support him in the initial days of the league.
“We wanted to have somebody with him his first year, and in terms of family I was the most mobile. It was either me or my mom, and who do you want going with you? It worked out well,” Elisabeth revealed in an interview. Later, Elisabeth decided to leave her job as his agent because of the difficulty of handling the business with a family member.
“Every once in a while I’ll have to kind of take him and be like, ‘Hey, look, I get that I’m your sister, but I’m your manager as well. And, it’s not going to work if you don’t treat me and see as your partner as your manager,'” Elisabeth said about her previous role as an agent for her brother.
Following this, she founded the Play MakeHers traveling Clinics & Panels. This initiative is to help and support young women athletes hone their skills. While she is still a part of her brother’s agency, Elisabeth also has to manage her business. She is the founder of the lifestyle brand Ego Honour.
The loss of their brother is tough on both. The starting center for the New Mexico Lobos was married and had three kids with Angela. Reeling from the demise of the former G League star, fans, and netizens remembered Gordon’s highlights from his career. After his playing days with the Philadelphia 76ers, Gordon had a career playing in international leagues.
