The Golden State Warriors are widely known for their stellar three-point shooting. Stephen Curry is at the top of the All-time 3-pointers made list and Klay Thompson is at the 6th rank, trying to catch up with his Splash Bro. While the attention is always on the above two superstars, we forget what Draymond Green is doing outside the 3-point line as well. On the first week of March, Green knocked down two shots outside the line against the Milwaukee Bucks to pass Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird on the All-time list, and that has left Udonis Haslem and a former New York Knicks star speechless.
Nate Robinson joined Haslem’s ‘The OGs’ podcast and an entire segment of it was about Green breaking Larry Bird’s record. Robinson started, “How in the hell did Draymond Green pass Larry Bird for the three-point list? He played that much longer than Larry Bird?… I was like, ‘Bro hold on, really?’ I had to go back like, ‘Man, how many three points did Draymond really shoot and make?‘.” The 3x Celtics champion played a total of 897 games, which is more than what Green has played(811 games).
However, it took only around 800 games for Green to surpass Bird’s record of 649 three-pointers. The 2016 DPOY has made 657 three-pointers now and is at the 308th rank in the all-time list. Bird was known to be one of the best shooters in the NBA. He won three back-to-back three-point contests for the Celtics in the All-Star weekends in the ’80s.

However, when it came to the game, Bird would often take deep 2-pointers, which is why he couldn’t record a lot of three-point shots. Looks like this turned out well for Green! Coming back to the podcast, Haslem still believes this takes nothing away from Larry Legend, but he loves what Green is doing this season.
Udonis Haslem uses Draymond Green’s record to credit his comeback
Haslem shared, “That don’t take nothing away from what Larry Bird has done”, but he added, “Draymond has been one of the best winners to ever play the game.” Green has been criticized throughout the season for his flagrant fouls, ejections, and also the suspensions.

But ever since he returned from it in January, he has played a crucial part for the Warriors. Haslem wanted to give the 2016 DPOY his flowers. Haslem said, “He been doing well though. I gotta give him credit when credits are due. Since he has been back, he has been holding it together.” Nate Robinson also agreed, as he said, “Shoutout to Draymond”. Let’s wait and watch if it is good enough to get the Warriors into the playoffs. What do you think?
