My legacy, my son, it’s in you,Kiyan Anthony is living up to his father, Carmelo Anthony’s words from his retirement video. The 17-year-old has been making it to the headlines for quite some time now. While initially, it was mostly about his mother La La, or his father, now it’s his gameplay. The most recent instance of this was Kiyan scoring 42 points at the NBPA Top 100 Camp.

Notably, the camp includes some of the best high school basketball players, who will be contesting from June 8 to June 13 at the camp in Florida. Playing from team Dallas Mavericks at the camp, the 17-year-old has appeared in three games so far, averaging 30 ppg. Notably, his 42-point gameplay featured his 8-on-9 free throws and 3-on-9 three-point shooting, along with 7 rebounds, and 6 assists.

And although Kiyan’s team has won only one of the three games, they still have five more for a comeback. However, this is not a newfound success for the 17-year-old, as he has been dropping impressive performances from Nike’s EYBL itself. Kiyan played for his father Carmelo Anthony’s ‘Team Melo’ in the league, averaging 19.9 points, and 4.3 rebounds per game.

He was among the top 10 players in points per game for a significant duration of the league. Some of his most impressive performances from the league included 28 points against Pro Skills Elite and 25 against PSA Cardinals and NY Rens. Although it’s still a long road for the budding basketball star, the future as of now looks bright.

What’s next for Carmelo Anthony’s 17-year-old son?

247Sports has ranked the 6’5″ player as a 4-star prospect, and No. 9 shooting guard in his class. As a result, Kiyan has already grabbed offers from institutes like Syracuse Orange Tennessee Volunteers, Michigan Wolverines, and many others. However, as per 247Sports, he has officially visited only Florida State Seminoles and Syracuse Orange.

Syracuse men’s basketball head coach Adrian Autry had even visited some of Kiyan’s games at EYBL. Their whole coaching staff is listening to every game. That really shows their interest in me and what I can do on the court… They really invested in what I can do on the court,Kiyan said in a post-game interview.

So far, the 17-year-old has shown the highest interest in Syracuse, which could be because his father attended the same college. However, as per the reports, Anthony will visit other colleges also before deciding by the year-end. At present, he still is left with five more games to play at the NBPA’s Top 100 Camp.

And even before the camp could end, he already grabbed an invitation from USA Basketball to USA Basketball Men’s U17 National Team Training Camp. It is important to highlight that, so far, only 36 athletes received an invitation to the camp. The 36 players will further compete for inclusion in the 12-man roster, which will head to Istanbul for the 2024 FIBA U17 Men’s World Cup.
