After over five years, Matt Barnes and Anansa Sims are all set to welcome a new addition to their family. Following the arrival of their first son, Ashton, in 2018, the Barnes recently announced they are ready for their second child together. Considering the not-so-easy journey, fans have been elated over the news, showering the couple with love, support, and well wishes. 

The two took to their official Instagram account to share a few clicks featuring Sims with her baby bump, Barnes, and their son, Ashton. “All because two people fell in love…,” read the caption to the post. The two are no strangers to parenting roles, for their blended family of eight is well-adored. Matt Barnes was a father of two twin sons – Carter and Isaiah — with his ex-wife, Gloria Govan before he met Anansa. As for the latter, the model parented three kids from her previous marriage with David Patterson- Ava, David, and Dean. The new addition, thus, comes as treasured news for the family. More so, having overscored their obstructions.

Said to have met during their college days, Matt and Anansa started dating in 2018, after their divorces in 2016 and 2017, respectively. They had their son Ashton the same year, but separated in 2020 because of the NBA star’s infidelity issues.

However, the two reunited in 2021 and have been together since then, though they haven’t yet tied the knot. As for the upcoming addition to their family, Barnes had once expressed hesitation about having another child as he felt he already had a large enough family, but it seems he had a change of mind. And the immense love and support from fans of the couple is most likely to assure him of his decision.

Fans place their predictions ahead of gender reveal

It is well known that the former NBA star and his partner appear on a TV show named Barnes Bunch. The two have trodden successfully therein, presenting their relationship unfiltered – to promote ‘realness,’ and ‘humanize,’ the stars. So it’s obvious the fans were curious to know if the cherished moment would be on the show with all its excitement. “Does this mean it’s gonna be on the show tonight,” commented one IG user.

Sims not only confirmed this to be on the show but also mentioned the show will also include a gender reveal. “Tune in for our gender reveal 🩷💙 on tonight’s season finale episode of the #TheBarnesBunch,” she commented. Having a son already together, most of the comment section wished that the couple has a daughter next.

A fan, wishing more for the couple, commented, “Hope it’s a girl for yall 💗 or even better, TWIN GIRLS 💗💗” she commented. Some users expressed their love for Ashton as well for soon turning into a big brother. “Love this for my my girl and Ashton he too now gets to be a big brother…” read one comment. 

Another fan, in all excitement, commented, “SCREAMING OMGGGGGGGGGGG CONGRATULATIONS 🎉🎈🎊 PARTY OF SEVEN loading!!!!!!!!!” The excitement rightly reasoned, for the couple encountered a miscarriage in 2019 and had been hoping for another child ever since. “We just haven’t not been trying,” Anansa had revealed, even considering IVF. However, all-in-all, things seem to have fallen into place for the two, possibly bringing them even closer past their differences.
