Would you skip work to support your spouse like Shaq's wife did?

Toronto was lit up by DJ Diesel and his ‘work wife’ was thrilled. Lucky 13 wrapped its first season in an underwhelming fashion but the cuteness between its co-hosts is thriving. Shaquille O’Neal donned his Diesel bling to take over Rebel on Saturday night. It was electrifying as usual, with the addition of an animated Thanos-style Shaq in a Greco-Roman setting playing in the background. Gina Rodriguez could feel the thrill back home, even though she was not at Shaq’s show in person. Very unlikely, O’Neal’s DJ set could draw his co-host to Canada easily.

O’Neal’s busy summer included skipping the Olympics, the Summer of Bass tour, and working alongside Gina Rodriguez on the new ABC game show, Lucky 13. It had a slow start and recently wrapped. But Shaq and Gina formed the cutest big guy-little mama duo on TV this year.

Shaq enjoyed the adrenaline rush of the Rebel crowd so much, he flexed it on his official social media. “Toronto… last night was EPIC,” was his way of thanking the trapheads at the show. Rodriguez reposted the Reel from the comfort of her home and wrote, “My work hubby @shaq is out of control!!!! This is epic!!!” Makes sense that Shaq’s energy reaches that far.

Canada, and Toronto especially, has drawn Shaq over a lot. During his summer tour, he took a pitstop in the Great White North, boating at the lake and running into locals. He frequents the Toronto party scene as DJ and party animal often.

He’s made his love for Canada known every chance he gets and Canadians reciprocate the love tenfold. But his work wife has had a different experience with the country and its locals.

Gina Rodriguez and Shaquille O’Neal differ on the Canadian experience

Have an interesting take?

Gina Rodriguez has done many acting projects in Canada, which is a popular destination for TV shows. Her interactions with the locals, though, have left her with mixed feelings. Earlier this year, the new mom candidly said, “I love my Canadians. I’ve done a lot of projects in Canada, Vancouver and Toronto.” But proceeded to call Canadians “nice, kind, loving” and “passive-aggressive.

She didn’t specify what made her feel that way, but quickly said, “I’m kidding, but not, let’s be real. No, I’m kidding, I’m joking.” Rodriguez had to adjust her Latina background to the Canadian environment, but she grew to love the people. However, it was different with Shaq.

The Not Dead Yet star instantly clicked with the NBA legend. Throughout Lucky 13, the pair dished out dad jokes and poked fun at their height difference. But what cemented their ‘work relationship’ is Gina’s son picking Shaq as his honorary dad.

Her son, Charlie, joined her on the ABC set often and he hit it off with Shaq like two peas in a pod. Baby Charlie’s biggest fascination was Shaq’s size 22 shoes. Despite their differing experiences in Canada, this duo is going strong. Now fans speculate if they can bring back Lucky 13 better than ever.
