Isaiah Thomas’s heart still aches for his late sister. The 34-year-old lost his sister, Chyna Thomas, to a car crash in April 2017. While the world celebrates Christmas today, Thomas took a moment to express his grief in front of his fans on the internet. The 2x All-Star shared a heartfelt message for his late sister on Christmas.
As the tradition of the festivals goes, families come together to celebrate and have a good time. For Thomas, it’s not about celebrations as much as it is about missing an integral part of his family.

The 34-year-old took to X, expressing his grief over his sister’s absence. He posted, “Miss you Chyna!!!! Holidays are tough without you 💔💙”. Chyna passed away on April 15th, 2017, during that time, Isaiah was with the Boston Celtics. The ex-NBA star was lost after the incident and it was difficult for him to focus his mind on anything. He said in an interview after the tragedy, “Mentally and emotionally, I’m not here, so I just feed off what the guys give me. They give me a lot of confidence. I can’t do it without those guys. They believe in me”.

His sister’s death took a toll on Isaiah and basketball is what gave him the much needed comfort. He said, “Being here is what makes me, I guess, sane. It makes me feel somewhat normal through these tough times”. He also honored his sister after the accident by putting all his focus into the upcoming games for his franchise. Isaiah scored 33 points in the game after the accident and dedicated it to his late sister.

As much as he was grieving the death of his sister, he didn’t let that affect him to the point where he had to abandon his team. Isiah played all 4 playoff games for Boston right after the accident. His dedication also became an example for the whole team as they rallied behind their teammate, providing him with all the necessary support.

The Celtics’ head coach Brad Stevens was stunned by the commitment that Isaiah displayed during that tough time. Stevens said, “I can’t believe it. I tried to say that earlier this week. But what he’s been through and the day-to-day, it’s been unfathomable the way that he’s performed on the court. It’s been really incredible.” Isaiah is a warrior in the true sense for pushing himself through despite the tragedy.
