Michael Jordan came back to the NBA in 1995, rejoining the Chicago Bulls and leading them to another three-peat. During Michael Jordan’s time with the Bulls, a Chicago native who grew up watching His Airness was Antoine Walker. Although he was extremely competitive, he never got the chance to get the better of MJ during his early years in the league.

During a recent episode of Run It Back, Antoine Walker talked about his experience going up against Michael Jordan and how he finally got his revenge against the 6x champion.

Jordan retired for the second time in 1999. But he decided to come back to the NBA in 2001. By then, Walker had become one of the best players in the league. As he was from Chicago, he was the one who was running the main offseason practices in Illinois.

Walker said, “First things first. When he came back in ’01, I was kind of the main guy in Chicago that ran the runs… So he had to call me to get all the guys to come and work out with him. I felt good about it that he had to go through me.

This was the first way Walker felt he had one over Jordan. After that, both MJ and Walker got close. But he still had a grudge in his mind. Walker said, “I also dominated him in those two years. We got them back.”

So when he finally got the chance to face Jordan again in a real game, he took full advantage of it. Jordan was playing for the Washington Wizards in 2001 and 2002, and Walker did not let that chance slip.
