Ex-NBA star's dig at Arenas—Is it justified or just petty drama?

Gilbert Arenas and Nick Young have always been a popular duo coming to pranks and playful competitions. Involving Young’s kids or betting large sums to call it nil, each has found oneself on the receiving end on multiple occasions. This time around, it was Nick Young who had a one-up.

Currently, as Big3 Week 6 sets to unfold, Enemies coach Nick Young has taken the opportunity to mock former coach Gilbert Arenas during a practice drill. With both Bivouac and Swaggy P’s Enemies tied at the top of the league standings, the team’s proceedings behind the scenes were sure to bring up the reigning championship-winning coach. But Young wasn’t kind enough to let his partner in pranks have it easy.

In the viral video posted by Ballislife, 2018 NBA champion Nick Young doesn’t hold back when asked about Arenas. He humorously jabs at Agent Zero’s age, implying he wouldn’t fare well in a 1 on 1 matchup anymore. “We’re talking 1 on 1 here. He doesn’t want that,” Young quips with a grin. The clip then shows Swaggy P effortlessly scoring against Arenas, joking that it was easy work for him, fueling their competitive spirit even further.

Arenas and Young’s NBA careers did not overlap much with each other. They played together on the Washington Wizards for about three seasons and when they did go against each other, it was during Arenas’ later years 2011-12, where Young took the win 5-4. The latter was 6 years into his career while Agent Zero made his exit. Thus, naturally picking at his age, Young continued his teasing, suggesting Arenas might struggle in the Big3. “His knees don’t work,” he teases, making it clear he sees Arenas past his prime.

Interestingly, Agent Zero has a history with the Big3 league himself. He played for the Enemies in 2019 and took on the head coaching role in 2021. In the tenure, he also led the Enemies to a Big3 championship victory in 2023. So now, as the Big3 season proceeds well, Young has huge shoes to fill in of a teammate he seems to respect much – surprisingly evident from the post.

Gilbert Arenas’ Playful Rivalry with Nick Young’s Kids

During the same video, Arenas reveals with a mischievous smile that he’s been playfully tormenting Swaggy P’s son since he was just four years old, underscoring their enduring and humorous rivalry.

In an interview with VLAD TV, the former point guard elaborates on his antics with Young’s son, noting that the boy tends to misbehave only when he’s around. Conversely, he becomes remarkably well-behaved and polite in the presence of his mother. “I can’t even terrorize him when he is with his mother because he is so nice,” Arenas shares, highlighting their playful relationship.

Gilbert Arenas also humorously discusses his mischievous plans for babysitting Nick Jr., expressing excitement about potential pranks. “I can’t wait to tape him up,” he quips, showcasing his playful nature and the bond he has with Young’s children.
