While his ultimate dream of joining the elite league eluded him, Schea Cotton’s basketball prowess remained unquestionably outstanding. He earned the moniker “ManChild” for a reason, standing at six feet and weighing around 220 pounds, his on-court performance was nothing to sneeze at.

Even in the wake of his shattered dream, Cotton persevered, dedicating himself to creating opportunities for young, aspiring athletes. His venture into establishing the “ManChild League 12U team” aimed to spotlight emerging talents. During a recent interview on the “All The Smoke” show, Cotton offered fascinating insights into his life and career.

When questioned about his experiences playing alongside NBA legends, the 45-year-old athlete divulged a compelling aspect of his UCLA run with Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson.

Talking about his encounter with Johnson, he said, “I think Magic had the rock in the middle he kicked it up to me. It was me and Grant Hill the foot race and I was closing in from the left side.” He added, “He [Hill] tried to run by me and cut me off and swipe it low. I just wrapped it, went around his body and dunked that thing.??

Cotton elaborated, ?It’s just one of those things I had to show and prove because I was the only high school player in the gym. Everybody else is NBA guys and I’m playing with Magic.? It was then that Schea Cotton realized his true potential.

Undeniably, he exhibited the skills of a professional player from a tender age, earning recognition and special treatment as if he had already attained a spot in the league.

Major corporations lavished him with royal treatment, recognizing the burgeoning star within him.

Notably, Nike went the extra mile by gifting Cotton an impressive collection of 37 pairs of sneakers, ensuring he had a fresh pair for every game.

Despite such grand expectations, a series of injuries and other adversities prevented him from reaching the pinnacle of success. Cotton declared for the 2000 NBA Draft but ended up without a team at the end of the night.
