Despite crediting financial success to him, Jeff Teague is not siding with Brandon Jennings on his Jayson Tatum take. For those unaware, Jennings earlier called Tatum the “softest superstar in Celtics history.” And as expected J responded. Amid all the chaos, however, was Jeff Teague on his podcast giving his two cents on the entire issue.

“I don’t think he soft at all,” Teague clarified his stance on the issue.  Further during the podcast, he revealed how Brandon Jennings could have better phrased his opinion. “I think he should have said he [Tatum] is the most polite. He the coolest Celtic.” He, however, stated his understanding of why Jennings feels about Tatum the way he does.

Teague believes it’s mostly because Jayson Tatum is a chill kind of person. “Like, Larry Bird talked a bunch of sh*t. Paul Pierce talk a bunch of sh*t. KG talk a bunch of shit. And then he [Tatum] the next superstar. He just kind of chill. He don’t do that.”

Well, there is no denying that Larry Bird has been known to be one of the most skilled trash talkers while Kevin Garnett has been known to be one of the nastiest trash talkers. So much so that KG once made his teammate cry with his trash talk. Jayson Tatum on the other hand, not so much. “He don’t talk shi*t. He just play. Just do his job, kill and go home,” Teague said on the Club 520 podcast.

Well, there is no denying that just because Tatum does not trash talk does not take away his accomplishments. Something that Tatum himself seemed to highlight in his response to Jennings. He stated he was not surprised by BJ’s comments.  “I think it comes with being one of the best players in the league, and the more you accomplish, the more it gives people the opportunity to nitpick at things,” he said.

Jennings, however, seems in no mood to back down from his opinion.

Brandon Jennings double downs on his criticism against Jayson Tatum

What’s your perspective on:

Is Jayson Tatum's 'chill' demeanor a sign of strength or a lack of competitive edge?

Have an interesting take?

Despite the backlash over calling Jayson Tatum the “softest Celtics superstar ever,” Jennings has stuck to his guns—and he’s making sure everyone knows it.

The latest drama unfolded during a Lakers-Spurs watch party on the Gil’s Arena Playback stream. While enjoying the game, Jennings spotted a framed Tatum jersey on the wall of streamer Legend Of Winning (LOW) and couldn’t resist voicing his opinion.

“You need to take down that #0 jersey ‘til he gets a Final MVP. Go put that in a closet,” Jennings declared, leaving the streamers momentarily speechless. Before you jump to conclusions, Jennings did clarify his stance.

“He’s a great player. I’m not taking that away from his game. He just looks soft.” It’s clear from this that Jennings has nothing against Jayson Tatum’s gameplay, but just issues with his style of play. But even voicing that, he should’ve heard what Jeff Teague had to say about phrasing opinions.
