Paul George likes talking to his guests on his Podcast P, but for quite some time he has become the talk of the town. George has a big decision to make for himself. PG will either have to sign an extension with the LA Clippers by June 30 or he can also become a free agent. However, for that, he will have to decline his $48.8 million player option for the 2024-25 season. Many former players have chimed in with what the Clippers small forward should do. One of them is former NBA champion Jeff Teague.

On a recent podcast, Teague and the squad spoke about the NBA offseason. Focusing on what moves teams like the Celtics, Mavericks, Warriors, Bucks, and 76ers need to make for next season. According to him, the Celtics will find it harder to accommodate somebody since they have contract situations.

Talking about the team that came short in the finals, Teague said George could be a good addition for the Mavs. “They need Paul George. A lot of teams that need a Paul George. I play Paul George on everybody he can play on anybody team because now he’s figured his role out,Jeff Teague said, via the Club 520 Podcast.

Further explaining he said, “He’s not the Superstar, he’s a star and he know he can be one of the guys and you need a guy like that. That can make plays, that can score when Kyrie having a bad night when Luca need a little help or whatever. But he also can guard multiple positions so he like a wing that you need instead of Derrick Jones and you got Paul George.

PG joined the Clippers in 2019, the same year as Leonard. And so far he has had an impressive stat-line of 23.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game with the team. But not even once has he even reached the NBA Finals.

Another veteran agrees with Teague’s analysis

Kenyon Martin believes that it’s not just working for Paul George with the Clippers. “… experiment has been going on for six years now with two older guys. It’s not gonna work…Paul and Kawhi has been six years now. What do we have to show for? For whatever reason. Whether it’s injury, whether it’s timing, whether it’s. It just hasn’t worked,” he said, appearing on Gil’s Arena.

So for George to move further in this direction, Martin stated one suggestion for the 34-year-old. ‘K-Mart’ understands George is in his home city with the Clippers, but according to him, there is another option in the city. He believes that to ensure he stays in his home city, PG can look at the LA Lakers as an option. The former Nuggets star believes George can be a better fit with Anthony Davis. But to go through with this option, he will have to give up his $48.8 million player option and become a free agent.

Meanwhile, rumors of the Philadelphia 76ers taking interest in Paul George have also emerged recently. So much so that speculations are that the 76ers may even offer $212 million over four years to him. In such circumstances, the Clippers will have to increase their offer to retain PG. So George is no short of suitors, even though Teague doesn’t consider him a ‘superstar’.
