While his versatility remains unmatched, Shaquille O’Neal might not be ready for his latest venture. At least the crew on TNT has their reservations about the success of such an endeavor. Despite his industry-spanning career, Charles Barkley isn’t buying O’Neal in his new role. According to him, there is a simple reason why the Big Aristotle can’t succeed.

Because, after years of analyzing from the TNT bench, Shaq is going to be up close and personal with the action. Rather than wait for NBA on TNT, the Los Angeles Lakers legend is taking on the role of commentator.

For the Miami Heat vs Milwaukee Bucks game, the big man is going to step into the booth. Alongside the legendary duo of Reggie Miller and Kevin Harlan, explosive coverage is on our hands. However, Sir Charles isn’t fully on board with the idea.

He’s never watched a game,” alleged the 1993 NBA MVP. At the same time, Monica has her own concerns. “I wanna know how he’s gonna fit into the booth coz you know how small the booth is…So Reggie, Shaq, and Harlan, all in the booth? Gotta get a picture.”

Barkley wasn’t done with his rant, however. “I can’t believe you’re gonna ask him to watch a full basketball game.” Clearly, Chuck doesn’t think this is a hat that will fit the multi-faceted head of Shaquille O’Neal. It begs the question- how did Mr. Diesel do in his commentating debut?

Shaquille O’Neal: A riot on the commentary bench

Throughout the game, the presence of O’Neal was a constant highlight. Whether it was commenting on the state of officiating in the NBA or taking shots at Victor Wembanyama, Shaq was in peak form. Moreover, he even got a Charles Barkley diss in during the evening.

However, his presence wasn’t enough for his old team, the Miami Heat, to overcome the Bucks. Ultimately, the clutch play from Milwaukee’s superstars, especially Khris Middleton, was crucial in cementing a Bucks victory.

While Charles was relatively quiet about the entire affair, safe to say, that future iterations of NBA on TNT could feature multiple callbacks to this event. All in all, however, fans would be happy to see Shaquille O’Neal return to the commentary booth in the near future.
