Michael Jordan dominated the ’90s with his trash-talking skills and elite basketball. After winning six NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls, no other player could compete with Air Jordan for the title of the greatest. It was undeniably the decade of the Black Jesus. However, a Los Angeles Lakers legend had different ideas.

The legendary center is considered to be one of the most dominant players in the paint. With his frame and strength, he dominated the league in the late 1960s before retiring. But the legendary figure’s bold assertion backfired spectacularly.

Michael Jordan was undoubtedly one of the best players during his time in the NBA. Jordan helped the Bulls team win two historic three-peats. His out-of-the-world basketball athleticism and his hunger to win caught the eyes of many. However, several legends criticized the NBA in the late 1990s for being too easy.

One such legend made a massive claim that he would easily drop a thirty-point game in 1997. The Los Angeles Lakers legend, the late Wilt Chamberlain, was a force of dominance. With a massive frame of 7’1, Chamberlain possessed the athleticism and agility of a much smaller player.

Chamberlain, who went by the nickname ‘Goliath’ in 1997, made a bold remark about the degree of difficulty, saying that he would effortlessly drop a 30-point game at age 60 and if he was 30 years old, he could average over 60.

“AT 6O I COULD GET 30, BUT AT 30 I COULD AVERAGE 60-70.”

This was the year when the Bulls, led by Jordan, won their fifth championship. That year, the Black Jesus and other prominent figures like Shaquille O’Neal, Hakeem Olajuwon and Charles Barkley were at the height of their careers.

Nevertheless, Wilt had high praises for Michael Jordan and claimed that with his skills and athleticism, he could fit in any era.
