You know Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons is a Michael Jordan fan when he took one comment ‘personally’. He and Houston Texans QB CJ Stroud got into the GOAT debate over some basketball stars on The Edge podcast. Now that some have been pushing Stephen Curry’s name into the discussion, Parsons was riled up. What started calmly nearly came to blows between the Pro Bowlers.

Stroud ranked “Stephen to one, Bean at the two,” putting Curry over Kobe Bryant. It’s the other name he missed that triggered Parsons. “Jordan’s gonna put hands and feet on Steph,” he countered Stroud. Micah Parsons usually has a lot of words to say but Stroud’s opinion left him speechless till he only managed to tell the 22-year-old, “Are you delusional?”

Stroud defended his opinions too. “Who would stop Steph?” he repeated. To which Parsons kept barking, “Michael.” CJ still tried to claim, “Is Michael Jordan the best defender ever,” and Parsons fired back, “CJ, he’s top 5 in guard position.” Stroud was determined to instigate many of His Airness‘ supporters because he said, “he might not even be better than Kobe in defense.”

Parsons looked like Stroud was verbally knocking the wind out of him. His opinion was so hard to fathom that Parsons genuinely said, “I’m scared that people are going to criticize you for this man.”

Regardless, Stroud is just as opinionated as Parsons, and he doesn’t care what others think about his opinion. Oddly, Stroud’s finding more agreement in the responses than Parsons.

Steph Curry is closer to that discussion

In 2023, when Curry declared himself the best point guard in NBA history, both Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson explicitly disagreed. They contended Johnson was the answer to the best point guard. Curry also conceded but said their pushback was due to a generational gap.

It still kicked off a push to include Curry in conversation with these greats. Shaquille O’Neal cautiously tried to push for it in December 2023. So many were quick to push back against it, a treatment Parsons fears Stroud will get.

The struggling Warriors stayed put on the NBA trade deadline and showed improvement when they beat the Pacers 131-109 on Thursday. Curry drained a season-high 11 3-pointers in this game. It prompted Warriors rookie, Brandin Podziemski, to do the worst goat impression after the game. Whether it’s too early for most to elevate Curry in the same league as Michael Jordan, it’s clear where Podziemski and Stroud stand at least.
