Dwyane Wade is one of the most explosive guards the NBA has ever seen. A Miami Heat legend, the 13x All-Star was a certified bucket as he tore up the league in his first year. An NBA champion within his first 3 seasons, Wade alongside Shaquille O’Neal formed a formidable duo as the two ran rampant during the 2005-06 season. While the pair were a great combo, D Wade’s ultimate team was formed in 2010, as him alongside Chris Bosh and LeBron James formed arguably the greatest trio of this generation.
Although LeBron continues to play today, it won’t be long before the trio is immortalized in basketball history. Chris Bosh has already been inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021, as good friend Dwyane Wade joins him this year. Hours away from being enshrined as one of the greats, Wade recently looked back on his career as he honored his parents despite their haunting past.

On 12th August 2023, Dwyane Wade will become the 7th Miami Heat player to be inducted into the HOF. A special honor, the 2006 Finals MVP will be enshrined into the institution, after spending 16 wonderful years in the NBA. While it is no doubt a great accomplishment, Wade recently opened up on his “broken background,” explaining why the honor means more today.
Speaking to People about his road to the NBA, the 3x NBA champion revealed that his parents were not present during his draft night. Explaining the reasons behind their absence, the guard revealed that his parents suffered from various addictions as they failed to prioritize their only child. Elaborating about their addiction struggles, the HOF inductee stated, “Their addictions took them down a path that was solely for them and about them.”
While Wade’s parents’ addictions prevented them from being able to attend their son’s induction into the league, the 2009 scoring champion revealed that he is “very, very thankful” that his parents will be watching his induction into the HOF. Honoring his parents, the soon-to-be Hall of Famer also gave an insight about his current relationship with them as he described it as “so sweet.”
