Is Kiyan Anthony's choice of Paul George over his father a sign of changing basketball loyalties?

Kiyan is making strides in his basketball career and Carmelo Anthony seems excited about it. Except for the part that his son had previously snubbed him off his list of GOAT players, with the first two spots going to Kobe Bryant and Paul George. However, with Kiyan always speaking fondly of George in his interviews, it wasn’t entirely unexpected that now, the teen seems to have brought in PG13 as his coach as well. A clip of the two practicing together has gone viral on social media. But now, fans have been bothered by something else.

The video shows George hooping with Kiyan while Carmelo sits nearby, observing and analyzing the game. The 76ers star praised the young talent, who has recently been in the spotlight after his standout performances at Peach Jam.

Just a few days ago, when Kiyan was asked who his GOAT player was, he admitted it wasn’t his father, but George instead. Although Melo was upset by the choice, he expressed his gratitude to the NBA veteran for mentoring his son. PG explained that instead of teaching something new, he’s been helping Kiyan hone the skills he already possesses.

“We have real defenders on us. PG, just seeing how every dribble, how hard he goes, and every breath, like, they showed me, like, there’s no excuses. Like, you just got to go hard,” Kiyan said.

“The smoothness that he plays with. I’m not the only person that be saying like that‘s my favorite player like Brandon Miller got a lot of heat for it when he first came in the league so just like the way he play like it don’t matter about the win,” Kiyan said when asked about why he has been such a huge fan of the NBA veteran George.

However, fans were distracted by another factor. Many wondered how the Philadelphia 76ers star was able to play despite being hurt.

Fans show confusion and worry about Paul George

The reason is Paul George‘s injury. He recently joined the Sixers’ roster, and the first thing that happened was a knee injury. In a preseason game against the Atlanta Hawks, George suffered a bone bruise after hyperextending his knee. “He isn’t injured? a seemingly confused NBA fan wondered and hence took it to social media.

It was reportedly announced that proper healing would require the player to be sidelined for at least a week. Other than notching up 23 points for the Milwaukee Bucks, he has been largely absent from the preseason matchups. Regarding the same, a fan asked, “Didn’t he just f–k his knee up?”

One netizen asked if he had recovered from the knee injury he sustained. “Ain’t this n—a PG hurt???? Lmao,” a netizen wrote. Another comment was also directed at the same concern and wrote, “His knee good then?” The clip could be before George was injured which is why it is called, a “Secret” training session. Moreover, the champ has already confirmed that he is good at his game.

Many were impressed to see Kiyan practicing with the basketball legend. However, some wanted the New York Knicks legend Melo to take up the role. “Would have been cool to see Carmelo and his son play together,” a netizen demanded.

While Carmelo Anthony would always guide Kiyan, he perhaps wanted George to do what he is best at to his 17-year-old. Although some in the comments section didn’t appreciate the versatility, it can only help Kiyan on the court.
