They’re making a sizable investment in Anthony Davis by signing him to a three-year extension worth $186 million. This deal has just set expectations for AD’s future in the NBA.

Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce discuss Davis in the latest episode of Showtime Basketball’s?KG Certified. These two NBA legends want active Titans to make way for future stars like Anthony Davis.

According to the two legends, James wants to pass the baton to Davis. But the younger Laker is apparently reluctant. Pierce said, “[LeBron’s] been trying to give him who the team … but I just feel like AD ain’t been wanting to.”

He had predictions for the next season, too. “I feel like LeBron. He’ll start the season going to AD. But he’d be like, Man, I’m tired of waiting on you”. That’s a bold statement since we don’t know what the next NBA season holds. But Pierce stuck to his point.?“I mean, that’s what it looked like. It’s like he been trying to hand the keys to AD…. he don’t… I don’t think he want them.”?

Kevin Garnett sees superhero potential in Anthony Davis

Since his new deal with the Lakers, NBA legends are pinning their hopes on Davis. Even the Lakers star, James Worthy, is waiting to see Davis shine. While there’s very little doubt that AD can be the next big superstar of the league, injuries mar his career.

Garnett seems to agree that Davis is not ready yet. “Anthony Davis wants to play Robin, bro. He don’t want to play Batman,”?he summarized Pierce’s point.

The Celtics legend believes Davis has room to improve. Even if he’s not immediately ready, Garnett has high aspirations.?I expect Anthony Davis to be MVP in these next two years or something.”?He envisions the power forward to prove he’s worthy of that new contract. “And he’s going to have to take the reins of, yeah, I’m the best player in the league”.
