“Now! I want it now!”- Carmelo Anthony spoke about working towards his dream of owning an NBA team one month ago. And by that point, he was already part of 2 new ownership teams. During Week 3 of Big3 in Baltimore’s CFG Bank Arena, Melo was courtside during the game and the 10x All-Star had dropped a hint of potentially owning another team.
While speaking with Rachel Annamarie DeMita, Carmelo Anthony spoke about the atmosphere in the arena. He also thanked Ice Cube for bringing the action to his city of Baltimore. “This is home so it’s you know. Cube, he blessed my city with bringing the Big3 here you know, this is a big basketball town,” Anthony said in an interview with Rachel Annamarie DeMita.
Big3 currently are looking for expansion and have locked in 3 teams. The plan for the league is to move away from the touring league and adopt a home-based model. Melo seemed excited for the future and wanted to get more involved with the league. “For me personally, I’ve always wanted to support it but due to my former job, it was kind of hard. But now that I’m here, I’m retired man, I’m actively you know trying to help Cube get to where he want to go.”

Later, DeMita urged Carmelo Anthony to be involved in a coaching role. Melo said, ” I mean we could work with some ownership team here out of Baltimore. We figure that out.”
The plan is to build 12 teams and the ownership group led by DCB Sports purchased the Los Angeles-based team worth $10 million. Heath Freeman led the ownership purchased team for Miami Base worth the same. Yesterday, it was announced that Eric Mullins and Milton Carroll have purchased the third location-based team for Houston.
If this happens, this would be Carmelo Anthony’s 3rd ownership role in the space of a few months. Let’s look at Melo’s previous ownership announcements.

At the end of May, the revolutionary women’s ‘Unrivaled’ league announced that Carmelo Anthony was part of the seed round of investors. Co-founded by basketball icons, Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, the players in the league would receive equity and higher salaries in comparison to the WNBA.
