In the vast and ever-evolving world of pop culture, few phenomena have captured the collective imagination quite like the epic saga of “Game of Thrones.” A decade has passed since this groundbreaking series 3rd part graced our screens, leaving a lasting impact on viewers worldwide. The show’s stars and producers have left and the show itself has been canceled, but that hasn’t stopped it from continuing to infatuate us, and will likely continue even after many of us are long gone.

But one guy who has done an excellent job in keeping the spirit of the shows alive in his own manner is none other than NBA legend Carmelo Anthony.

Carmelo’s Throne Room

In one of the promotional videos for “Game of Thrones” Season 3, Carmelo Anthony did something truly awesome: he sat on the Iron Throne. The mercurial basketball court and Game of Thrones were Anthony’s own realms of fantasy. Ten years on, the symbolism of this moment endures in his magnificent Game of Thrones collection.

In a recent YouTube video showing off his house, Melo let us in on a secret that extends beyond the court. “I’ve been collecting art nearly 15 years now,” he said gleefully. “It’s just in my nature to be the first person there…to sniff around…smell it out,” he said at another point.

Carmelo ushered me through the gallery, where he introduced me to works by renowned artists including Swoon and Kehinde Wiley. Notably, Wiley created a “Mogul” franchise in partnership with Carmelo, Spike Lee and Swiss Beats, sealing in their statuses as Cultural Icons.

But it was Carmelo’s love for Game of Thrones that really took the cake. A giant statue of the Iron Throne sits in the center of his fan cave. He called it “the king right there” in a playful manner; and obviously has more love than just watching the show.

A Fan’s Dedication

Beyond the art, Carmelo Anthony’s collection of Game Of Thrones is deeply personal — it’s not merely captivating imagery or layered narrative, but power, conflict, and purpose, that ring true for him. As with those contesting for the coveted Iron Throne, Carmelo has experienced the rigors of competition and distinguished himself in the process.

It’s not just about the show, it’s about personal development and finding inspiration in the least expected places. Carmelo’s Game of Thrones isn’t just a superficial fan-boy crush; it’s an actual appreciation of intricate stories and character arcs.
