Charles Barkley isn’t showing mercy! Just recently, he went on a long rant about media outlets’ excessive coverage of the Lakers. He appreciates the Los Angeles Lakers improving their game but feels the Cavaliers and Thunder need more attention who have been great throughout the season. After acquiring Luka Doncic, the team has been on a roll, hitting their stride. Beating the Knicks, LeBron James and his squad have now extended their winning streak to eight games. However, the same cannot be said about the Dallas Mavericks, who traded their franchise face away. And their latest gesture has quite clearly made Barkley upset.
Chuck is always candid with his opinions, even the harsh ones. Not so surprisingly, he called out the Mavericks for making a mistake. Trading Doncic away has already made fans angry. And the selective fans who had faith in the team and were looking forward to Anthony Davis teaming up with Kyrie Irving were also left disappointed. During his debut for the Mavs, Davis sustained a left adductor strain and was sidelined.
And now, the Mavericks have announced a seat ticket price increase of 8 percent. This isn’t a big deal and shouldn’t have garnered so much attention. However, it’s the timing of the announcement. Barkley felt that this wasn’t the right timing.

“I got to kill y’all. The person who announced this week that y’all are raising ticket prices. You got to be the dumbest person in the history of civilization. And we got some dumb ones, as you can see right now. But you guys raise ticket prices right now for next year. You got to read the room, guys. This is not the time,” Chuck said on The Steam Room podcast.
With Doncic’s trade and the Mavericks’ current situation with injuries, fans are already upset. This raises the question of whether people will buy season tickets. Speaking of the Mavericks, the team has been hit with one injury after another. “So as much as I love the Mavs, I pull up for the Mavs, but the person who announced you’re going to raise ticket prices this week, like, that’s just stupid,” Chuck added.

Apart from Davis, Daniel Gafford, PJ Washington, Dereck Lively, and other key players are injured. And recently, another player who was crucial for the team was sidelined.

Charles Barkley shows support to Kyrie Irving
Netizens poured love and support on social media for Irving following his season-ending injury. In the team’s 122-98 loss against the Sacramento Kings, Irving injured his ACL in his left knee. He had been playing well and shouldering the team this season after Doncic’s exit. James, Doncic, and several others took to X to motivate Irving during this tough time.

What’s your perspective on:
Did the Mavericks just shoot themselves in the foot with Doncic's trade and ticket price hike?

Shaquille O’Neal also addressed it in the Tuesday TNT segment. Before discussing the Mavericks’ ticket price increase, Barkley shared a few words for Irving as well. “Kyrie, I wish you the best. I’m sorry you tore your ACL. I think you’re a great player and a good kid. And I hope all you guys get healthy. And, Nico, hey, man, I wish you nothing but the best. It is what it is, and I hope it all comes together,” Chuck said
As per the announcement by the team, these adjustments in the ticket price aim to more accurately reflect the value of seats, especially in high-demand areas near the court. Perhaps, if the Dallas Mavericks had chose a different timing as Chuck pointed out, it might not have caught so much attention.
