“Gimme a F**king Break”: Commenting on Tiger Woods’ Sh*t World, Charles Barkley Pinches His Biggest Foe With Surprising Claim

Charles Barkley can outplay NBA titans taller than him. But he’s no slouch on the greens either. Barkley is a known golf enthusiast, which is what made him an interesting subject on The Golf Digest. He answered a few questions about his famous golf buddies, including Tiger Woods. A year ago, ‘Chuckster’ made an infamous comment about the golf legend.

Many have been questioning the status of their friendship since then. But he recently disclosed a surprising opinion on the golf icon.

Is Charles Barkley scared of Tiger Woods?

Barkley and Woods were regular golf buddies in the past. But the retired NBA star revealed their friendship ended abruptly. He would go on to make a few honest comments about their friendship.

The NBA legend counted golf stars Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson among his regular golf buddies. But things suddenly changed some years ago. In the 2022 book, Phil: The Rip-Roaring (and Unauthorized!) Biography of Golf’s Most Colorful Superstar, Charles Barkley gushed about enjoying golf with Phil. In the same book, he made some honest commentary about Tiger Woods.

He brutally revealed that Woods might be the better golfer, but “it’s not fun to be around him.” He called him uptight and made everyone afraid to do the wrong thing.

“Gimme a F**king Break – you’re just a golfer, dude,” Barkley exclaimed in the book. This statement further adds context to the 2017 comments, where he said that Woods froze him out abruptly since the golfer’s 2009 car crash. Barkley never received an explanation about being dumped by his friend.

To this date, it’s not known if Barkley and Woods have patched up and played golf together again. But that hasn’t stopped the NBA analyst from speaking about him.

Golf Digest asked Barkley who is the most intimidating person he’s played with. He namedropped two people – Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods.

Michael Jordan is known for his intense competitive drive in everything, so the answer was not surprising. Given that Barkley once said that Woods is equally intense, it’s no surprise the PGA titan intimidates ‘Chuck’ too.

“I’ve been around other great players and big stars, but Michael and Tiger, when you [are] around those guys, especially at the peak of their superpowers, people absolutely lost their minds,” he revealed.

Woods may not play with Barkley anymore, but he certainly remains a memorable opponent on the course to even a basketball legend or two.

Charles Barkley shows respect for other athletes

Chuck’s social circle goes well beyond basketball. In the same interview, he gushed about his “man-crush” Tom Brady. He also said that two-time major championship winner Dustin Johnson could make a decent NBA player.

Woods remained the dominant topic in the golf-centric interview. But despite their falling out, Barkley stood up for the disgraced golfer during his public downward spiral.

When the 82-time PGA TOUR champion was dealing with a DUI case in 2017, Barkley was among many famous friends who appealed to tone down the public backlash. He and golf legend Jack Nicklaus stated that Woods was going through a difficult time and needed help.

Tiger Woods is one of the many famous friends Barkley has a love-hate relationship with. But no matter what, the ‘Inside the NBA’ host will stay loyal to his friends.
