Boston Celtics legend Kevin Garnett is remembered as one of the greatest Power Forwards ever. However, he was also notorious for his on-court temper and his outspoken nature. That has only carried over to his role as an analyst now. In the recent episode of Showtime Basketball’s KG Certified, the Big Ticket expressed how NBA greats LeBron James and Kevin Durant must pave the way for future generations. The two have dominated the league for more than a decade and KG feels that it’s time for them to step down.
With his former teammate Paul Pierce joining him, the two discussed whether it was time for Anthony Davis and Devin Booker to take the mantle.

Kevin Durant and Devin Booker are two of the greatest offensive weapons in the league currently. KD has probably been the best offensive player in the league for a while now and Booker is not far behind him. But Kevin Garnett feels that the focus should be more on Booker rather than KD.
In the recent episode of KG Certified, the Big Ticket told Paul Pierce, “I don’t think the responsibility is on KD, I think this is Booker’s team.” He said that KD shouldn’t be burdened with making every play anymore. “Everybody in the cast coming to support him and I don’t think it’s fair to put pressure on KD like that.”

The Suns are favorites to win the championship next year, especially after the addition of 3x All-Star Bradley Beal. The former Washington Wizards star will add even more firepower on offense. However, KG would still like to see Booker take up the mantle of leadership, something he feels will only make KD better. He compared it to how Anthony Davis’s arrival in LA helped LeBron James.

The NBA legend claimed that it was Anthony Davis who made LeBron James look better. “Anthony Davis made LeBron better,” he emphatically exclaimed. It was the greatness of not just LeBron, but also AD that led the Lakers to the title in 2020. Davis regularly stepped up and demanded the ball go through him throughout that championship run, something Garnett would like to see Devin Booker do.

However, KG felt that LeBron and KD should hand over the reins to the younger generation. “LeBron and KD—it’s time for them to be spot up.” But from their current form, we could assume that there is no slowing them down. As Pierce claimed, it would be weird to see James and KD standing in the corner.
