Earlier today morning, reports revealed that more than 20 former NBA veterans have been charged and sentenced to prison for defrauding the league’s health care plan for its players. This stunner has left the internet in disbelief because a few big names were involved. One of them is the former Boston Celtics star Glen Big Baby’ Davis, who has been sentenced to 40 months in prison. While the internet is busy finding the other big names involved, let’s delve deep into how much Davis defrauded the league.

Davis announced his retirement in 2015, after which he played in the Big 3 league overseas. Several years later now, he has garnered attention once again for defrauding the league’s insurance plan. As per reports, Davis and others claimed more than $5 million through the league’s scheme for NBA players and their family members, which lasted for 4 years.

Davis, who has a net worth of around $10 million approx., submitted claims worth $1,32,000. This includes a dental claim, worth $27,200 from the Beverly Hills dental office on October 2, 2018. Now, a federal judge has issued Davis a 40-month prison sentence, along with a restitution of $80,000.

He was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2023 for leading a sprawling scheme to defraud the NBA health and welfare benefit plan out of more than $5 million. He previously pled guilty to conspiracy to commit ‘healthcare and wire fraud and aggravated identity theft’. He admitted that it was his idea to submit false claims for medical and dental expenses.
