Are we entering the Wemby era this year? After a thunderous performance in his first year, Victor Wembanyama was seen honing his skills working out alongside Jamal Crawford. While many got the hint, others had doubts about this team-up. Former NBA player Kenyon Martin believed that the young Frenchman could benefit while working out with someone like Tim Duncan. But Wemby’s practice for the Olympics speaks a different tone.

While Martin is certainly not wrong about his advice, it seems the above-mentioned team-up might have something interesting up their sleeve. A reliable account on X shared a clip of the 7’5 Wembanyama hitting a step back three during the 2024 Olympics practice. The post is captioned, “Wemby looks like a guard hitting a step-back three, and then you remember he’s 7’5.”

Poll of the day

Do you think Victor Wembanyama will dominate the NBA like LeBron James?

Absolutely

No way

Too early to tell

He'll be even better

Crawford who takes immense pride in the 2x LNB All-Star retweeted and added laughter emojis in the caption. He once praised Wembanayama and made a prediction that the player will become one of the greatest. Fans quickly understood the force behind the development and sent along their praises for Crawford.

Jamal Crawford received plaudits from the fans

Jamal and Wemby’s first practice sighting dates back to late last month. But the sharing of moves has been in place since the 2024 NBA All-Star. “I showed him a wrap-around move,” he had said on Dan Patrick Show, revealing it was only a move for tall guys and believed Wemby could pull it off well. Taking note of Crawford’s impact now, a fan commented, you’re giving a monster superpowers Jamal.”

With step back three growing popular with all its complications, fans were shocked to see the 2024 Rookie of the Year done the move. “omg what have you done @JCrossover,” a fan wrote in disbelief.

One fan simply ignored Crawford’s job on TNT and made an almost impossible demand to see the NBA legend with the San Antonio Spurs. The comment read, “I hope to see Coach Crawford on the Spurs sideline next year. Forget TNT!” Unfortunately for the fans, Crawford had expressed his will to never be a coach in the NBA last year. Though considering he does coach his son wonders and evidently Wemby of late, hope might not all be gone.

Many more echoed a similar sentiment of praising Crawford while another believed Wemby could certainly learn more from the legend and wrote, “I’m sure he can learn more from you bro.” The 20-year-old is already known for his ball handling and being creative with the ball. Garnering a lot more from Crawford could certainly elevate Wemby’s skills. “I don’t think people really understand what’s about to happen,” one expressed.

Another impressed with Wembanyama’s improvement praised the NBA legend — known for his isolation and ball handling as a player — and wrote, “Man gave him all the sauce.”

Kevin Garnett was right when he praised the two teaming up. Wembanyama is one of the players on the preliminary roster for the Olympics, and he is excited about a possible matchup against Team USA, which will feature LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and more. Now we know what Wemby meant when he said that the possible matchup between France and the USA would be “interesting.”
